Hasn't happened to mine yet, but I only have about 2800 miles on the car, plus I have floor mats.

I've had plenty of cars and trucks, both american made and import, with a hole worn into the floor mat/carpet under the gas pedal.

I suggest a good set of floor mats.

I would recommend the all season rubber mats... I got em from the dealer and put them in about one month in.... no dirty mats, and no wear and tear!!!

My carpet is still intact, fortunately.
I would suggest talking to the dealership to see if the car's warranty can "cover" the hole that seems to me to have appeared too early .

Yes this is happening to mine as well. I took it to the dealer who then talked with the Toyota rep. They said they would replace it at any time. Suggested I wait until the waranty was about to expire and then get new carpet. I told them as along as they gave me a letter as such. Otherwise they would claim it is normal wear and tear 3 years from now.

They gave me the letter.
