DDM HID kits $35
I found these HID kits on my Tundra forum and figured I would let you guys know about this smoking deal. People seem to be having good luck with their kits. I'm about to pick up a couple sets for my Tundra and the Yaris.

Yeah saw these on my bmw forums. Let me know how these go. Been debating for a while if I should go ddm or stick with prolumens.

the same stuff with a different sticker, go for ddm. they all come from a factory in china regardless of what the labels say. If you're convinced it's made elsewhere, it's just using the same schematics and components built at a different location. what you pay for is the warranty, nothing more.

i have stuff from china too, its just circuitry, there really isn't anything of quality control can screws up other than the bulbs themselves being bad.
Anyways, i say these are worth the shot, even the warranty sweetens the deal! |

From the DDM site:
H4 hi/lo (+$25.00). + shipping, which was $10.50 to me = $70.45 I doubt it's a true bi-xenon hi/lo with a reflector, couldn't find a specific product description. There are differences in ballasts, wiring, harnesses and bulbs. They do NOT all come from the same factory, that is ridiculous. I have samples from at least three Chinese factories, and I chose the best quality to carry in my store.

i'd like to get mine from a german factory...hella/phillips/bmw/mercedes if i had my choices.
oh, and lemme tell you something about 'same thing just different parts'...so wha'ts the differnece from IBM and mac? nothing...same internals right? what about toshiba vs compaq? same thing again right??? wrong. it's called quality of parts used. the higher end manufacturers will always use higher grade parts with a much higher end product...that's why they're more expensive. go ahead and use the cheap bolts on you're 28 psi boosted engine...hell, throw some nos in there for good measure....i'll stick with my ARP bolts and see who's lasts longest |

If it works then it works, that's that. A warranty to back up a failed item means you will get something guaranteed to work. Even things of high quality control will fail but the chances are lower. As I see it, there's nothing to lose. Kit is cheap and has a lifetime warranty so if it fails, let them know and they should send you a new one.

The shop next to mine uses a lot of those. They had issues on some bimmers they installed them on like you would turn the headlights on and only one side owuld work. Turn it off and back on and other side would work..
I mean a HID kit for about the same price it would cost you for a good set of bulbs theres always got to be a catch. Cheap and good are typically not used in the same sentence except for this sentence for explination purposes =)

^ plus the shipping and H4 cost, which you keep not adding in.
did anyone find out if they are true bi-xenon, or xenon+halogen?

from the picture, they are neither (no high beam)
you can tell because there are only two leads - you need a third in any setup

Stick with what everyone else is getting from garm. For something as important as headlights, I want good quality.

^ that's very kind, thank you. It IS good to see what's out there in the marketplace, but I think comparing these HID's to mine is not apples to apples in terms of function and quality.

Have to agree that just because they look similar, they aren't necessarily. I have a set of Xenon Vision bixenons, which was one of the more reputable brands ( I thought), but they do not have "equal" high beam patterns, and the color is slightly different between the bulbs, so that convinces me there is a reason to pay more for known quality.
