Driver Window Weatherstrip problem?

Hi,

I got a new 5-door Yaris six months ago. I like everything about it except this one little annoying problem: the horizontal weatherstrip (the one that looks like a long squegee) of the driver side does not touch the glass. When I roll the window down, it does not get wiped.
(it works fine on the passenger side).

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Any solution?

Thanks

Michael

You can take it back to the dealer and have them check to see if the wiper seal is installed correctly and/or adjust the window tracks/mechanism so the window contacts the wiper seal. It should be covered under warranty since its a workmanship issue.
-or-
It should be something you can do yourself if you are even slightly mechanicaly inclined. I havent been inside the doors on my Yaris yet but every other car that I've had has room to adjust the window tracks/mechanism so you can get the window into the proper position.
For starters ,here is the Yarisworld 30 second door panel removal DIY (for the lift back Yaris).

take it to the dealer, have them look at it since its still under warranty
if they find signs that you messed with it they might not cover it under warranty

Great, thnks guys for the great advice.
I will take it to the dealer then.

So your Yaris doesn't do that, does it? both windows get wiped fine when the window is rolled down/up?

Thanks

My 2007 HB wipes the windows of rain, dew and very light frost, by cycling them down and up.

My Yaris doesn't wipe off anything from the windows, too.

Mine does the same thing . So did my Evo . I just use the 55 mph method in conjunction with Rain-X . No problems ....

it is not a flaw. the seal is there to keep garbage
out of the door when the window is up

when you drop the window it is not designed to keep the seal
pinned against the glass. if it does fine, it is does not that is not a flaw

many vehicles work the same way. it is not a -wiper-

yeah.. it's not a wiper :P

it's supposed to only touch the window when it is up... I would rather have it not touch the glass at all... one less thing that scratches my window!
