08 Yaris VTTi 1.0 refused to start until...

Hello everyone, only had the Yaris for 6 days and it's already causing me white hairs!
This week end, I moved the car to the back of my driveway to make some space.
This morning, I try to start the car, all lights go on as usual, go off as usual, try to start, and nothing (the starter didn't spin). Try again twice, same thing. there I thought it must be the immobiliser, and since I cleaned my key, I might have damaged it. I go get the spare, same thing!
I think "what the heck", open the bonnet, and don't see anything wrong. close the bonnet, try again, and it starts first try! Move out of the driveway, stop the engine, start again, and works again.
Anyone knows what went wrong? Was the bonnet not fully closed (although it wasn't fully opened, it went "clonk" when I pulled the lever to open it) and the car won't start if it isn't? Or is it something else?
Now I feel like I'm going to be stranded one of these days!
