No, I think the HB is lighter. The back end creates more drag, but the weight savings offset it. The sedan is 4 inch longer wheelbase and 16 inches overall longer, but only 35 pounds heavier+/-. The ride is better in the sedan too. Depends what your looking for. I get right around 40mpg with a 2010 sedan.

LB / MT 2290 lbs
LB / AT 2335 lbs

Sedan / MT 2288 lbs
Sedan / AT 2321 lbs

looks like the HB Weighs more. ( found this info. on the forum)

That must mean the sedan gets better MPG.

i don't think that little of a weight difference will make much of a difference on gas mileage. More important will be the driver.

Diffusers might help the LB a little bit. I am surprised by those weight figures, you would think 2 extra doors plus the extra length would make the sedan a little heavier rather than a little lighter than the 3 door. In reading the specs I am also surprised to see the 5 door only weighs like 9 pounds more. I would think adding all those extra hinges and locks and window mechanisms would add more than that. Also, I think those weights are for the base models with no power anything, I wonder how power equipment would effect those figures.

I don't have the spec sheet any more from 2008 when I bought. The HB is taller (I like the head room) which could create more wind resistance.
