recommended: Redline MT-90 transmission fluid
just had the transmission fluid changed in the yaris (a little late at 70,000km)
tranny feels smoother even though it -10C + windchill today... i like it.

Used that for a 2008 3 door . Does wonders , especially for cold shifting . Took little ove 1 hour to change out the fluid . Well worth the $25 for the 2 quarts .

Hell yeah! It totally fixed sticky gears, and made it way smooth. Cold wx is no challenge.
I changed at around 40,000, and 70,000 ... will change again at 100,000. GL-4 seems to run better than GL-5 based gear oils... I tried a few different oils the first time I changed it. The Valvoline GL-5 gear oil totally messed it up. |

Redline MT 90 GL-4... Great Stuff! Been running it for a while(40K) and only a few days out of a week long cold snap(~-25C) made the clutch sticky.

I replaced the whatever stuff the dealer put in the new tranny with Redline Mt 90 and it really makes a big difference, It feels a lot quieter, the reverse doesn't lock any more and all the gears shift a lot smoother.

Only 2 quarts needed . Make sure car is level as possbile , then pour into filler hole until it runs out and comes to a slow drip .Then replace the plug . Can get a bit messy , but well worth it . When finished take it for a good spin and work through all the gears , including reverse . You'll notice a big difference not long after . The clunk into reverse disappeared as well . May want to take the car for a drive before the gear oil change so it flows out better when warm / hot ( metals suspended in oil ) . Good Luck .

as for only needing 2 quarts, i would personally buy a little more, if u luck out and dont touch it then u can return it, but if u need it at least its there, better to have too much then not enough. especially if thats the only car u have to get to the store to get more oil if needed.....

Use a funnel with clear plastic tubing / hose that goes into the filler hole . Can get them at WAL-MART for reasonable price . I used only 2 quarts with no BP oil spill .

ROTFL!!
for all who plan to go out and buy a funnel, dont get a metal flexi one, they leak in all the joints.

Another "me too" for the MT-90. I did actually notice an improvement. Worth it.
