US and Canadian law require side amber reflex reflectors whereas other countries do not, that is why only US and Canadian vehicles have them.

Sorry guys .. been to busy to read this since I posted this.... and now feel like an idiot as I know what all those signal bulbs are for... I mean in the headlight housing under the head light bulb there is a tiny bulb upon closer inspection it is not orange... but not clear either.. Is this just cosmetic ... btw it does light up I found when the full headlight system is on it lights up.

Umm.. you'll find going back in history.. it's actually a light you leave on in dark areas where it helps other motorist to see your car parked to the side (hence the reason why it's called "parking light"). In Europe, you'll see many LHD vehicles when parked with the set of left hand side lights to be lit only. RHD, the right side as it's the bit of the car that is closer to the centre of the road.
It is not a light that you use to reduce glare. In the city, you still should have low beam on at nights. (I haven't seen any cars in the big cities of Japan without their low beams not turned on at night). |

Hmm interesting, here people just turn those on in the late afternoon as dusk falls... As soon as it's getting dark, the low beams come on

So far the only way I can just turn those lights on is when the hand brake is pulled up and I turn the switch one notch and then those come on but as soon as the hand brake is down or off the day light running lights come on....

Prolly that's because of the DRLs. When you take the hand brake off you're supposed to be ready to drive, hence the DRLs come one. With the brake on, you're parked, hence the parking lights turn on... Maybe?? I dunno!!!

Hand Brake ON; car running = No lights inside the headlight housing will be on.
Hand Brake OFF; car running; headlights OFF = DRL's and parking lights will be on. Hand Brake OFF; car running; headlights ON = Low beams and Parking lights ON. As you know, the DRL's are just a lower wattage being sent to your low/high beam bulb. There is no seperate DRL bulb. |
