2011 4DR YARIS Sedan TESTDRIVE

Just test drive a 2011 new 4 dr sedan 5 speed manual,
i notice, it's quite hard to shift (been driving manual trans for a 10yrs).
you can even smell the clutch...maybe, bcoz, it's still Bnew..
driving up in hilly road, it seems, it needs more power than a 1.5cc.
any comments?

I went through the same thing & ended up buying the automatic.
Couldn't be happier.

^ Funny you say that. I picked up the manual on purpose because the slush box seemed so terrible. It only takes a couple things to really get the car to be more responsive. I never had an issue with power for regular driving. As for the gearbox, well that does take some bit to get used to and it honestly doesn't matter if you have been driving stick for 40 years unless you are accustomed to a DBW system.

Yeah i've been driving standard for 45yrs and the throttle response takes a bit of getting used to on the Yaris as there's no mechanical link to the engine, the gas pedal is hooked up to a potentiometer that tells a computer where the gas pedal is and then sends out a message to the engine to achieve the results you desire,it usually takes a fraction of a second more time than most people are used to..
