Courtesy lights

I have a '08 Yaris S and the map lights used to gradually dim after exiting the car or brighten when opening the door. That feature no longer works. However, the map lights work manually, and so does the dome light. Could the cause be the module for the interior lighting? It's not the door switch or a fuse otherwise the other functions would be affected.
