Spring low vs coil low
Wondering for anyone who has them... I have Tein springs and tokico shocks.. it's like 1.9 inch lower... how low can you guys get on coil over setups here? I'm seeing pictures and stuff but i'm trying to see how much lower your getting vs lowering springs.. seems like the tein springs are some of the lowest drop ut my car's still a 4x4 lol..

Good thread for you: someone who went from Tein S-Tech's to Tanabe coilovers.

really low? Do you have a picture of your car? I've seen some of the coilovers people have claimed 3"s or more.
Also what wheel/tire combo do you have? That can also raise the car.

I believe the Yaris coilovers need modified to go really low. I've seen a few slammed Yaris's but they're all running airbags. Garm/Jeff at Micro Image could get you information on either set-up though, and would know way better than me about suspension setups.
I would say to just call them, tell them your goals, and see what they can do. |

To hell with low. I had my k sport coilovers at stock height, and they gave my car the best handling and ride comfort I have ever experienced with the coilovers. But no, Marlondog had to f with it and lower it. Now it is all dicked up, and I have to raise it back up and go get an alignment job. Yes the car looks cool low, but not fun when you hit bumps and potholes and hear your muffler scrape going over speed bumps. Stick with your set up.

You can easily get 3" from some of the coilovers we sell.
marlondog, bring it by, we can reset your height evenly and get your corner weights on our scales. BRING YOUR ADJUSTERS

Probably good to paste my PM reply here:
We can get custom rear springs but not the front pigtail springs. Coilovers are the best bet, and they all work about the same with respect to the geometry. Depending on your wheel & tire set up, you may need different stiffness to avoid bottoming out and rubbing issues. I'd probably recommend Megans for the good price and I can get custom rear springs easily to swap out on those. Remember, lowering the car that much WILL screw with the intended geometry. Best to get it aligned, and work with any camber issues to make it the best it can be when slammed.

Everyone needs to know that when marlondog brings food, it's going to be:
1. Unique and difficult to recognize. 2. Impossibly spicy. 3. Incapable of going bad even if left in the sun for years. 4. Impossibly spicy again at a later time (if you know what I mean).

Sounds delicious :D
i recommend the megans. I absolutely love them. you get a pretty intense amount of low out of them, too. the ride is great also. Pretty sure you could almost set the front on the ground with the amount of adjustment you get. I'm fairly low and i have a lot more room left to go. the rears get nice and low too. i removed the adjusters and just have the springs sitting on the collars. |
