Drive Belt Replacement
Hi, I went to get an oil change at a Toyota Dealership here in Chicago and was told that I needed to get a new Drive Belt because it was cracked and worn. My car has less than 35,000 miles and I was wondering if I was being ripped off bc im a woman an clueless about cars). My dad told me that this is way too soon to need a new belt. I also have an extended warranty on my car and was wondering if it is needed will it be covered.

IMO, without being able to see the belt, I'd say it is too soon to need replacing. Belts will develop cracks on the rib (under side) but that is not a sign that it is worn out.
Extended warranty will not cover an item like this as it is considered normal wear and tear.

For a 2010 with 35K, I would bet that they were just looking to make some extra money. That is unfortunately way too often the case.
