Funny you should post that up... just did the same thing to my Armada, after a member on the Armada forums posted that same question up.
FYI - save some money, it only took two 5/16th plugs (for throttle body) and one 8" long 5/16ths rubber heater hose from the parts store. Less then 5 bucks. |

Ill know once the weather gets hot out, and I have my long summer commutes. It makes sence on paper why it would work, so time will tell if it actually does.

It's a good summer time mod. It won't gain 8 hp like the ebay ad says, but you might pick up a couple on a hot day.
Just remember to undo it in the fall/winter if you live someplace that gets really cold. |

I did this mod to my mazda 2.5L MX-6 when i installed some Intake spacers, Basically it was bypassing the IAC sensor, so the car thought it was running cold all the time because theres no coolant flowing through the throttle body to read the temp, therefore more gas was injected, and possibly timing advanced
- side effects were HIGH IDLE all the time, it was annoying, but i noticed a slight increase in power in the high revs In the end your making the computer think the intake temperature is cold so it will be constantly running Rich There are many other BS mods on Ebay like the resister that emulates intake air temperature is coldest at the MAF making the timing more advanced again All these mods will probably increase your gas mileage and increase pollution |

That doesnt go for every car or truck though.
It's main function is for cars/trucks operating in the colder parts of the country.. My Armada for instance does not have a sensor in the coolent cavity in the TB.. its plumbed that way so the TB does not ice up. It doesnt get "that" cold here in Jersey on its worse day. Plenty of Titan and Armada owners have reported back with positive results. How this will turn out on the Yaris, no idea. |

If that thing does prove itself to work on the Yaris, I'd be down to get those parts and do it myself (but definitely after some one else) =P

Just try it you can always swap it back just buy the parts for the hardware store like Chris07LB it's nothing special unless you dont want to drive to the store....Matrix guys have been doing it for a while that's where I heard about it..like the rest of you it does sound like it should work, 8hp? Who knows I would just go with the butt dyno

yea i did this on my last car and had no noticable difference.....the air is moving too fast for this to effect anything.....
this is definately going to vary per vehicle like chris said............and that almost seems like negative results when the iac sensor is located right at the throttle body and caused the conditions that were described...... I dont think its the worth the effort and time given my past experience but if anyone wants to try it out feel free.....

Has nothing to do with it. READ thru the post here again, and see exactly why it can and does get bypassed.

IMO without coolant running through the throttle body, eventually ur Electronic Control throttle Motor is going to burn..............
on cable throttle bodies, ya it's ok, but electric motors, they fails without proper cooling.
