Time to say goodbye to the yaris

Long story short, there's been a lot of problems arising lately with the car from peeling clear coat on the roof, leaking roof, bad water pump, ac compressor going bad to name some. It's just starting to nickel and dime me. The biggest reason I'm moving on to a 2014 Subaru Impreza, where I live it has been very tuff to get anywhere in the snow. The Yaris is not a bad car it just doesn't do it for me anymore. I'm getting a great deal on the Subaru I'm getting it for $13000 out the door plus for all wheeled drive it gets ok gas mileage that's one reason I'm going with the Subaru. The Yaris is a nice car but it's time to move on. I'm going to get the Subaru once this snow storm is over with.

in a strange turn of events i have the same color car in the same state and am about ready to give up for the same reasons, roof and hood peeling i can hear the bearing on the water pump going and a complete lack of customer service from toyota on any issues i have had. This is my first toyota and i have to say i am very disappointed.

I'd rather be nickel and dimed on a historically reliable car than to have a whole new car loan. But that's just me. Throwing down money on a new car is something I want to do at most every 10-15 years. I'm going to drive my Yaris until either it dies or I do (hopefully the former).
Good luck with the Subaru, Cutie Pie #2. I love the Subaru emblem.....

Sorry to hear the issues with your Yaris. I had never heard of bad paint on one before.

Enjoy the Impreza; they're nice little vehicles. (I have a '13 WRX)

I see, the actual price is $18k. That is still a huge deal. This is what i paid for my subaru legacy (wagon) way back in 2000. And that was a huge deal back then. It was fairly loaded with options though.

I have to tell you. Subarus are not fuel efficient. I only got 18-25 MPG in the legacy wagon. When it was totaled, I bought V6 RAV4 with 7 seats and with twice the power and towing capacity and got exactly the same MPG.

Be also careful with tire pressure and uneven tires as they will eat diffs and AWD in no time. Subarus are very sensitive to that.

This one is only a base model, but it does have features that my Yaris didn't have like power windows and locks, bluetooth and AWD, so it will be nice for a change. The only thing I wish it had was Alloy wheels instead of hub caps but I can always get them later. The impreza is to get 27 city and 34 highway, I saw where people avg. about 30 mpg which I think is very good for an AWD, I felt sometimes my Yaris only got that.

30 mpg with an impreza? That's impressive.. my roommate owns at 07 Subaru WRX and though I do not recall advertised average mpg, I use a 1/4 of a tank every time I drive it (the commute is never longer than 20 minutes ~20 miles max one way. I'd assume it's because of the turbo, but I never really looked into it.

I don't think so. Here are real life impreza results from fuelly: http://www.fuelly.com/car/subaru/impreza/gas%20h4/sedan

I trust fuelly results. Like I said before, I got up to 24-25 MPG in legacy (on hwy, much less in city) and fuelly confirms that: http://www.fuelly.com/car/subaru/legacy/gas%20h4/wagon

There is no way non-hybrid bigger car with AWD can have MPG of yaris.

30 mpg looks possible. If you don't mash gas like an idiot and drive right.

Very nice and seems reasonable . Is it a C.V.T.? 30 should be possible . Keep us updated with gas mileage , etc.. Enjoy it . I think the oil filter is located on the top front R.H.side ( upside down ) . Should make for an easy swap .
