Can Toyota Have It Both Ways?

Concerning the protesters at the recent New York Auto Show:

"Outside the New York motor show, protestors scaled the 20-metre walls of the Jacob Javits Convention Center to hang a sign admonishing Toyota’s charge into gas-guzzling trucks and 4WDs, saying the company that builds the Prius hybrid can’t have it both ways."

What do you think? How can a company that produces high mileage cars and is leading the way in hybrid technology continue to produce something like the FJ?

Myself, I wish Toyota would continue full-on with extending hybrids into their entire product line starting with Scion but money talks and trucks continue to sell to gas-guzzling Americans.
