Door Fabric Panel Replacement

I have ordered red and black neoprene seat covers. Soon I will be rid of blue polka dots forever~

I want to replace or cover the polka dot door fabric panels in red neoprene. I assume I will have to remove the entire door panel. Is there an easier way?

Has anyone done this yet? Thanks.

I had a shop do mine in leather. I didn't see them do it, but its obvious that they removed the panel, removed the fabric, stretched the leather over the panel and glued it in place around the back edges.

I'm not a fan of the polka dots either.

Not the whole car, just the seats and door panels where the cloth once was.

Its been a year now, but I think it was $1,100. I had the dealer farm it out to a local shop before I picked it up.

I only wish I'd taken the heated seat option they offered.

Found a source for cheap neoprene. They have 'firey red', dark red, 'dazzling blue', dark blue, black, and 'rabbit grey' available in 1.5mm up to 5mm thickness. All the neoprene has black backing.

http://www.rockywoods.com/neoprenes_main.htm

To cover both panels I ordered 3mm fabric (part number 20068-2, the thinnest available in firey red) approx 52" (132 cm) wide. It can be cut to size needed.

I estimated each panel @ 40" wide X 16" tall. This is an overestimate to compensate for wrapping.

I ordered a quantity of three units (1 yard) @ $12.33 each = $36.99 + shipping of $8.50 = $45.49.

That price is not too bad for specialty fabric like that. I also bought a yard of fabric and it was plenty, tho not much left over. I made a paper pattern out of newsprint first--measure twice cut once doncha know.

I LIKE the little blue "dots" and they're not really dots, they're little blue W's. (but I do wish they were red!)
