Recall

Hi Guys & Gals,

Over here in the UK we have just had a saftey recall issued on the Yaris............... It's a good one are you ready.........................

For the head restraints, yep you read that right. The letter from Toyota GB says that they are aware of a possible problem with lock on the restraint and in most cases there should be no really problem. However it is possible that during an impact that the restraint may eject from the seat!

Can you imagine that, the airbags and car save your life and then your killed by an ejecting head restraint..

Anyways, on another note, I have had some problems with the CV boot and joint also on my Yaris. After a number of problems with the local dealer the head of R & D at Toyota GB called me and explained that "they were aware" in some cases of an issue with them and are advising their dealers to carry out a replacment of the troubling part. BE WARNED, if the dealer does this work they have to carry out a 4 wheel alignment check and adjust if required. My local dealer tried to suggest that my wheels were out of alignment as a result of my driving. Its taken me 2 months but today my car is in at the request of Toyota GB having this alignment carried out FOC.

Thanks to the guys on the forum, I was able to prove that it should have been done in the first place even after the service department told me they don't need to do it, by printing off the workshop manual from this site.

So a Massive thanks to the people behind this site, a massive thanks to the person who put those manuals on the site. And VROOM VROOM, the car in front is again a Toyota :)

Is there a Flimsy Excuses, Technical-Sounding Mumbo-Jumbo and Outright Lies Shop Manual? There's gotta be--I have had dealers tell me all sortsa stuff that was way too creative for Goober to have come up with himself...
