H.I.D kit question

Had a friend tell me that you had to change the housings due to the heat HID headlights give off. I was just curious what HID kits people have in their cars and did they have to do any hardcore modding or is it just plug and play and pictures if you have them and what type.

1. hid bulbs run cooler than halogens.

2. plug n play

3. buy the cheapie $100 chinese kits. i've had a few on various cars and none of them burned out. if they do, bulbs are $30 each to replace.

everything is made from china, it's always hit or miss because they're all the same with a different sticker.

telling you man, chinese! i had four kits in four different cars, each one worked well over two years. i have not had one bulb burn out. also, if you buy from my buddy, there's a 1-yr warranty on the bulbs. same day replacement. he can also get wafer-thin ballasts. it's the new shit according to him. it's only like $20 more. pm me.

ps i also have run philips and mcculloch.

Osram bought out Sylvania now. I live like not that far from the plant where they make the headlights. I seen where they had Silverstar Ultras now. I am just lookin for something different when my PIAA's burn out, but I dont want it to be a pain in the ass when I do.

I have seen the European bulbs and I was curious if anyone was using the Ultras. I am using the Piaa xtreme white plus and they are definitley brighter then stock and was wanting to find something maybe brighter then the Piaa's. I know there has been posts and threads about this before but I thought I would reopen it since it seems like there are alot of new members.

I would recommend DO NOT buy a cheapy kit. They are te kits that are more likely to do negative things to your car. I spent a good $350 (AUD) on my set.. (I have GT-HID) and it is a Hi-Lo BiXenon kit which uses a solenoid to switch between the hi and lo. Granted when you are not going and you flick your hi beams you can hear it click (due to the solenoid kicking in), it has caused me no problems at all. The kit itself is easy to install and the lights are absolutely fantastic. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

well if you decide on the cheapy stuff, i can get any color/size with regular ballasts for $180 or with wafer thin ballasts for $200, tax included. the bulbs come with a 1-yr warranty and can be replaced within one day, if they ever burn out. pm me if interested.
