The car is so light it doesn't take much to slow it down. Get some carbon metalic pads, braided stainless lines, and some wider tires to get more contact patch. Drilled/slotted rotors wouldn't hurt, but you lose surface area, those and the carbon metalics work idealy when the brakes are hot,and not as well when cold. Thats my .02

I'm installing the Dezod pads with R1 Concept rotors this week -- I'll let you know, with pics. Stainless lines will help response and feel a LOT too.

Yea im iffy on the whole R1 rotors....I tried them and wasn't happy, a little noisy.... The added brake "performance" you got from the rotors didnt make up for the noise. The pads by themself are awesome, and I definately want some steel brake lines.

You put the R1's on a Yaris? I haven't heard anything about noise issues, that's good to know.

The first step to better braking is a good set of tires. Brakes dont stop the car, the tires do. So get a set of good tires before u do anything.
Since you said you are tracking the car, I would suggest some good brake fluids to reduce fade and stainless brakelines to improve brake feel. Its better to have a set of pads for the track and another set for the street. But if thats not possible, something like hp+ will be a big improvement over stock. prepare for lots of noise and dusts!!!! Waste your stock rotors before getting now one...hehe.... Not really necessary to purchase a big brake kit..... |
