Engine Run-on changing 1st/2nd Gears

Guys/gals, quick question..

For those that have a manual, can people please tell me if they expeirence the engine continuing to high rev
while changin from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd gears, even when your foot is off the accelerator ?

I noticed this both on the demo and on my friends manual. Dones't overly wory me much and I suspect its
because of how touchy the electronic throttle is, but just want to get a feel if its a wide spread thing..

Thx in advance...

yes, and it could be 2 things:

1) Due to the electronic throttle, there is a bit of lag, so the engine could keep running a little after you lift your foot. You get used to it

2) If the car has just been started, the engine may still be in warmup mode where it can be revving pretty hard at idle. So, when you lift your foot, it would still be revving high. It should of course go away after less then 10 minutes of driving.

Thanks. It wan't a cold engine, which is what made me think its the electronic throttle. Weird thing is it only happens in 1st & 2nd. Other gears are fine.
And as you said, I'm sure I'll get used to it once I take delivery. My friend didn't actually notice it until I pointed it out.

Just get used to lifting your foot completely off the throttle just before you engage the clutch. Coming from a car that had quite heavy pedals the light and touchy pedals on the Yaris take a bit more finesse than I'm used to. However, if you make an effort to take that foot off the gas completely, the shifts are much smoother.

I used to hate manuals that would hang-on to the revs. Now, I don't even notice it.

One thing I do miss about my old manual (vs Yaris) is the initial bite and being able to take-off in stop-and-go driving while only using the clutch (with the left foot off the accelerator).
