What kind of add-a-fuse/circuit?
I know there was a thread that answered this question before the hacking, and I was just planning on using that one for reference.
Now, I have to ask. Since the Yaris uses low-profile fuses, do we need to use a special version of this little device, or do you just use the mini version and let the blades stick out a little bit? A link to the specific piece would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Sorry, wrong forum, thought I was in the DIY.. Last edited by Callisto; 10-22-2008 at 11:48 AM. Reason: Wrong forum |

We have a couple different size fuses in several fuse boxes. Determine which fuse you want to tap into, then take that fuse with you to an auto parts store. Can't go wrong that way.

Just use the normal mini size ones.

How do you use these open slots in the fuse box? Say I wanted a switched power source for an accessory like an audio source switcher for my HU, which open slot(s) in the fuse box could I plug it into? Is there a special plug I need to buy to attach to the accessory's power wire so I can plug it into an open slot in the fuse box?
The fuse box I'm referring to is the one underneath / behind the pocket in front of the driver's left knee / leg. |

There is one wire that comes off the add a fuse circuit--you may connect that to the + lead of your accessory however you see fit (crimp connector, butt splice connector, soldered/taped connection, etc.) For the negative connection, run your - wire from the accessory to chassis ground. On my car (08 Liftback), there is a good ground connection under the kick panel in front of the drivers door and just below the fuse box. When I get home today, i will try to snap some pix for you. |

Ok, so here is the fuse box and the ground point. You will need the add-a-fuse, and two standard mini fuses.

Thanks for the pics! So, the fuse box's lid / cover has a diagram that shows which fuse slot in the fuse box is switched or unswitched with the ignition? We can ue an add-a-fuse/circuit with any fuse in that fuse box?

I think the current limitation on the Add-A-Fuse is 10 amps (possibly more but I don't remember)--so use you can it anywhere there is a 10A fuse or less--on my car the ACC fuse is a 7.5A. The diagram on the cover doesn't say what is switched or not, but the ACC should be...you can verify this with a multi-meter or after you hook everything up.
