I'm just going to note that for a 40 offset the wheel guide says :

ET38-ET40 = 175-195 tire size

And you chose a 205 for a 40.

Being that I'm not a wheel/tire expert, I'll leave it up to someone else to help you so I don't mislead you, but if there is a 195 tire instead, I'd go for that.

Maybe i should just stay with the stock Goodyear 15" tires and just get a nicer wheel for them..Seems like a lot less hassle

Used stock tires for now, but would like them a tad bit wider.

Had pics in here before the hack....anyway, these are Honda (CN) "Enkei" 15 inch rims running Michelin 195/60/R15's. Offset is I believe 40 to 42. I have had no issues whatsoever with them or the tires. Only appearance issue with the package was the not so good factory paint on the rotors and drums. That problem has been solved.

Klink10
02-23-2009, 06:26 PM
Thanks guys....if I had not matched the silver of the wheels with the caps they would have stood out like a sore thumb. I checked through Toyota and they could not get me a matching center cap off any vehicle. However, I will look into a vinyl sticker design that I can go with. Hell I was going to do red but black was the only color I had in a spray can at the time and I couldn't stand the "H" for Honda on them. I will not take them to a painter as it would cost me more than the powder on the calipers.

Added today: The Prius center caps Toyota # 42603-52030 will not work. Thanks anyway.

^^ you can use paint remover, i forgot what its called but i think it has an airplane on it or something like that (autozone), my friend used it to clean his honda Si rims after he painted them gunmetal and it took the H sign off the caps like nothing LOL. but you gotta be careful, he said it burned his hands so use a glove if you plan on using it.

I picked up these Mini Cooper alloys off ebay. They are 15 x 5.5 +45. The center caps were black with the mini logo, so I pulled the logos and painted the caps to match.

They weigh 13.6 lbs. I weighed one of the 09 steelies I took off for comparison, and it weighed 15.35 lbs without the hubcap, and 16.25 with.

Have had my 07 for a couple years now. Haven't done any mods or anything to it, except for the spoiler that the dealership included when I purchased the car. But today, it was time to get some new tires and I figured what the heck, I might as well get some stylish wheels to boot. I went up from the 15" to the 16" and got these Konig's (not sure what they model is, will have to look at the paper) and some Pirelli's. I think it looks sweet.....

Just because I'm impatient and I'm new .... I am going to post the wheels I'm getting without actually having them on my car yet. lol I will have them in the next week or so - they are 18"s 225/40/18. I have DZone springs, but since I opted for the 18"s instead of the 17"s like I had originally planned, I am just going to stick with the stock suspension to prevent rubbing.

i think the lightest low-budget to high-performance ratio would be rota slipstreams.
size: 17x8 or 17x7.5
bolt pattern: 4x100
offset: +48

they're lighter than factory and you can run up to a 215 width tire without rubbing because the offset is so high.

if you insist on rubbing a 16"inch for cheaper tires and lighter weight yet, you can get it in:
size: 16 x 7
bolt pattern: 4 x 100
offset: +45
and run a 205/50R16 instead.

They come in any finish you could imagine. I think Full Royal Black would be the nicest, but Full Royal Sport Bronze would look really hot on a white yaris too.
http://www.rotawheels.com/images/products/slipstream_4.jpg

215/35R17 definitely wont rub, and 215/40R17 shouldn't rub and is closer to your OEM size. 215/45R17 would look sweet but would probably rub (i think that's the OEM size for my IS300).
Hankook & Yokohama make tires in this size: 215/35R17. The hankook tires only weigh 17lbs!

//~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~//

I ordered some Rota Circuit-10's for the yaris because that's what the girlfriend thinks looks best. I'll post pics of them when they're on the car, 16x7 -- Full Royal Gunmetal finish (brand new finish that was just released and no-one has yet)

The slipstream at 17x7.5 weighs in at 19 pounds. The enkei RPF1, in my opinion is the best price to performance wheel out there. RPF1 in 17x7.5 weighs 15.3 pounds. Granted it costs more but its the lightest wheel you can get for the money.

No, that's what I felt the original hubcaps looked like. I like my wheels to have some substance and fluid lines without all the fake bolt heads and flat surfaces and huge open spaces between tiny spokes. I really couldn't care less if they weigh less than the steelies. :iono: I like what I like

Thanks all! I luv my chromies!

Yes, they are blue valve stem caps. The shop just put them on, I didn't even have to ask them about it.

As I understand it, these should be easier to take care of since it is an aluminum wheel that's chromed instead of a steel wheel. I got some McGuire's Chrome Wheel Cleaner to get the tuff stuff off, but other than that it should be wash & dry to prevent spots.

Now I have to think about getting the calipers and drums painted. Blazing Blue perhaps??

They don't have to be. People generally change springs to improve handling and/or to lower the car.

If you go with 17" rims you will want to keep the overall tire diameter as close as possible to your original size. I think the closest match diameter-wise for a 17" tire (to the stock 185/60/15 tires) is 205/40/17 or 195/45/17.

No. You don't need to change the springs. With 17's on stock suspension (or with a mild drop), OEM tyre size 205/45/17 is the best fitmet for the Yaris... provided you run the proper wheel width and offset. Period.

Thank you sir, i love white cars. I missed it after i traded in my white 02 spec v for a silver subie and now I have a white scrubble. Its going to look a whole lot better tucking though. the S techs just arent doing it for me.

Just got my 2009 Polar White LB!

It's TRD themed as it goes to different dealerships as well as being a showcar, so I will have almost every TRD accessory available.

These TRD rims were next to impossible to get - had to call Toyota of North America to get authorization to purchase these. While they are listed as an accessory for the Yaris, Toyota has now made those rims replacement only tied to your VIN number. Only dealers with them currently in stock will be able to sell a set.

looks good. im just not sure why trd america came out with 18s for their aftermarket rims. there is simply no performance gain from a wheel that big on our cars. if they came out with a 16 id be all over it

my first gen RS 1.3 ex-Japan, now dubbed "The Mushroom"by my 10-year olds. It had 16" Artecs +35 offset, which looked ok but rubbed badly. I hunted around and found these Mak Rave 16x7s, +39, 2nd-hand, for not too much. Tyres are Hankook Ventus 205/40. Suspension is lowered but I have no idea how much by. Still rubs a little so will need front guards rolled. Hope you like it! Mike

anyone know some light and cheap rims? or a good place to get tires?

define cheap? but there was a link to a miata store that sold a bunch of them somehwere. our cars can fit their wheels. Konig Helium's are a very popular choice for light wheels. Anywhere that sells tires is a decent place. I got mine at the dealership, but any decent size chain or mechanic you trust will work.
