Before and after shots of PnutKar. Wheels are from a Mini Cooper, 42mm offset using Gorilla E/T Conical lug nuts (BMW uses studs on the Cooper). Removed the Mini logo from the center caps with a heat gun. The Toyota logo from the hubcaps would not fit within the center caps so I left them blank. Tires are Michelin Harmony, stock 185/60R15. Contemplated 195 and 205 but cost, wear, and warranty are an issue. It is my humble opinion that these wheels look very good on the car - they complement the "roundy" look nicely. Now it needs some "squat".

I run a set of the same Mini rims as my Winter rims. Their lug bolts are larger diameter than our studs and the hub is 2mm wider. If you aren't running hubcentric rings (I couldn't find ones to fit), you should use lug nuts that make the wheels lugcentric. I am using lugcentric bulge conical lug nuts that I found at Jegs that have the correct taper and have a part below the taper that fills the space between our studs and the wheel:

Yes, we don't want wobbly wheels do we? I used these lug nuts from Gorilla. They look similar to the Jegs nuts, but not as "bulgey". I like the Jegs better. I'll have to get some.

Correct. Jegs is a supplier, the manufacturer of the Jegs ones is actually Detroit Wheels.

The flare being wider than the flats on the Jegs ones makes a better fit than the gorilla ones.

Yes, that link is from my order to Jegs. They come in packs of 5, so 4 packs gives you 16 + 4 spares.

New "bulgey" lug nuts from Jegs arrived today (thanks to CTScott for the tip). They've been installed and torqued to spec. The Gorilla's weren't going to fall off and there were no issues over the last several hundred miles, but I do feel better with these installed. A note to any others thinking of using these or similar wheels:

Unlike the Gorilla's, these lug nuts are 3/4" (19mm) hex - smaller than the stock Yaris lug nuts and therefore will not fit the factory lug wrench. I took an old lug nut from my original steelies and welded it to a sacrificial socket and tossed it in with my goody bag in the spare tire well.

I think a reminder is in order here - when changing to non-stock wheels always keep a set for your spare.

Good reminder. I carry an X style lug wrench that will handle the factory lug nuts as well as the Jegs ones, but I don't carry 4 factory lugs for the spare.

From The Tire Rack

Kazera KZ-X wrapped with General Altimax HP

16X7 40mm offset -17.2 lbs...and 205/50/16. These 16's are the same overall weight as the stock 15's - (35 lbs with inflated tire).

Still on stock suspension. At this point, I plan on keeping it that way as I want to maintain practicality and a nice ride (and to save money). I know visually, it would only improve to drop it but I don't think it looks that bad.

This pretty much sums it up for me too; I've been going back and forth recently about whether to get lowering springs or not, but I probably won't... and I feel pretty much the same as you do. Your new wheels look great, by the way. I have the 15" five-spoke OEM alloys on my sedan.

I just put my new wheels after all that work I did installing the spacers in the rear, now I think I'm going to remove them for this wheel set, because I get some rubbing in the back )o:

I took this picture at noon under the bright sun, not very good for a good picture, but just wanted to share.

The good thing is the difference in weight:

OEM wheels about 37 lbs:

Thanks,
they are 37mm (O.Z. Ultraleggera 16x7) and with the 10mm spacer they do rub. they hit right at the edge of the fender (metal part) kind of at 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock. Do you pull/roll with any special tools? or just with your bare hands (with gloves).

I really like them but the way they where rubbing my damage the tire pretty bad, I put the OEM in the back, OMG my car looks so silly.

can you PM me the info on the flares, how much work was required, availability, pricing etc?

OHH I'm so happy! the rubbing it's gone!

I installed my new O.Z. Ultraleggera 16x7, 37mm offset, with 195/50/16 rubber! they are awesome, and about 7 pounds lighter than the OEM with snow tires I use. I also added a 10mm spacer in the back.

BUT... I was having rubbing issues on the rear axis. And thanks to people here in Yaris Wold, I got many possible solutions:

1. Take out 10mm spacers (for some reason there are stuck) and I really didn't want to do this.

2. Roll the fenders

3. Add a Camber Kit

4. Add a RING-TYPE COIL SPRING STABILIZER

So I started with number (4)- Spring Stabilizers, I installed them last night, put one OZ and went for a ride!

NO RUBBING, ok I went back home and put the other OZ and test them this morning on my way to work.

NO RUBBING!!!

The rear suspension got a little harder (not as soft) but feels really good! Lift UP the rear about 1/2 inch bringing the car to almost level with the front suspension the NF210s really make the car look like if I had something very heavy in my trunk, and now my car handles so much BETTER! like Loren told me about the Spring Stabilizers:

"Just jack up the car and squeeze on in on each rear spring. Will raise the ride height a little, and by removing an active coil from the spring, also raise the spring rate."

I'm still going to do the Camber Kit (there is no rubbing with full tank and my self but I bet once I add weight the tires will hit the fenders again) so this may help, I'm going to load my car and test it before adding camber. Roll the fenders as well! and if everything works well under LOAD I'm going to try to keep the spacer because looks so GOOD.

   Thank you YarisWold!!!

thanx landrym28, had a hard time deciding between high gloss finish and flat black. picked the flat coz i thought glossy is a bit too flashy like chromes. flat shows dirt easily though and harder to clean. what do u think of my clearance? should i just leave it alone or drop? what lowering spring should i get if i decide to drop? i'm thinkin a 1" to 1 1/2" drop should even it all around.

Thanks for the coments.

There is also center caps with toyota emblem available here for after market rims but it would look too much fake :iono:

I chose 205 x 45 x 17 instead of 205 x 40 x 17 so as to fill the gap a bit more. There is no rub at all but i am not sure what will happen if i install 30 mm Eibach springs.

if there is any such configuration without any rubbing please post.

My fiance will kill me if i buy a useless spring 2 months before the marriage

Tein S-tech Springs with Stock shocks combination.
Hi to all!!

I am quite new to this forum and i bought my car since 07/08. I am kind of late to be a member. Anyway, I have an inquiry about suspension which is i know it is been a question by many already. I really want to make sure before i proceed.

What can you say about using The Tein S-tech lowering springs with the stock shocks?? Right now, i dont have the budget to buy the shocks yet but, I already have the springs. Although, i bought the springs used roughly 2 years old one of the members here?

1) Is the springs to soft or to bumpy if i use the stock shocks with this springs?
2) Does tein S-tech springs sag a lot??
3) Are the stock shocks a good combination for the TST springs? or a must that i buy a new shocks?
4) do they last? becauseby the time i bought the shocks, teh springs is no longer good?
5)what can you advise will be the best shocks that i can buy that is really good to the budget for a bum like me which of course can deliver long lasting performance.

Appreciate all your feedback in advance guys!!

Doesn't Cali do vehicle state inspections?

Nope, we have smog every other year after your car is 5 years old. Strictly speaking, no modifications to intake and exhaust are allowed. Unless those modifications are certified by CARB (they get an EO [Executive Order] - a sticker which makes them legal). But there are no other technical inspections.

If you mod your car badly and you want to make it street legal, you could go to a smog ref and they would do a full inspection and decide. I was thinking about looking into it, but gave up on the idea. I'm thinking about getting a different car instead of dealing with the hassle (nice excuse, huh?)

sorry it took me so long to reply... well the eyelids were an experiment of mine trying different shapes and coverage areas to find the balance of looking great and not affecting the headlights performance.

i wont go into detail on measurements and everything (unless you want it) but basically they are simply 4 coats of paint... the first coat needs to be white (for a good reflective surface for the light to bounce off of back into the reflectors) then three coats of your average flat black paint... or whatever color you are going for

thanks for the compliment toy:thumbsup:

Hey all,

This is my Yarii with 15" Speedline Champions (custom Bronze paint) with 205/50R15 Falken Ziex-512 Tires dropped with SSC Lowering Springs.

Let me know what you guys think.

Very nice choice, looks awesome.

That's a nice color for the wheels. What brand and name for the paint, if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

It's a Dupli-Colour wheel coating paint: HWP105 - Bronze

The dealer showed me the Hankook book for that size tire. A 6.5" wide wheel was acceptible. That is the same size tire that was on the stock 5.5" steelies.

^thanks! i wanted something 'meaty' that would fill the wheelwells without having to lower and not rub. also, i think the design of the wheels make them look bigger than they actually are(only 15s).

After 2 years of putting it off I finally got new rims/tires.

I went with the MSW Type 11 rims (17x7, 37mm offset) and Yokohama ENVigor tires(205/45).

Picked these up used and battered. But they're much prettier than the OEM 15" Alloys and sharpen the handling considerably.
