Dude, SUPER Nice chrome pieces, Yeah I actually agree with you on making the car "Naked" from decals especially with these beauty's man. They look great. I gotta look to where you find your wheels at Phil, I need some new wheels already and you find a LOT of great wheels for some dirt cheap prices.
Thanks man. Yea keep it clean and somewhat fancy lol
lol yea dude I paid 650 for these bbs lol but they didnt look like this either, with all the work ive put in, chrome plating, new bolts, polished hexes, new caps, new barrels, new lips the total cost is around $3500-$4000

lol I did grab my stuff lol i never left it there. But i just went back today and they got them mounted. Awesome work, very careful with my wheels, used the cheetah and normal compressed air only no need for the stupid little crowbar that im so afraid of lol
Pics will not be up until ive lowered it back down to its normal ride height (raised it to reset preload for swift springs)
Finally adjusted the ride height. Because of how much shorter my swift springs are, I have to thread so much more of the shock body down on the front coilovers and now the bottom of the threaded shaft is almost touching my axle cant really go much lower unless I cut the threaded shaft on the shock body.... maybe its time for bags :iono: Rear im pretty happy with, I can still remove a collar if I want more
This weekend it got a fresh wash with wax, cleaned the wheels, polished the lips, sanded/buffed/polished headlights and started on prepping my side skirts for paint, im gonna try and backyard rattle can them lets see how it goes lol

Looks good buddy!
I thought this day would never happen but in my endelss pursuit of being hella low, I impusively started buying parts for air ride. This monday I began purchasing parts not even 100% settled that I was going air but at this point its kind of late to look back. I thought being so pricey it would take me a while to piece together a kit but I alread purchased everything minus the bags and rear brackets so this should be done shortly here is what I have so far
Viair 444c Compressor (seller is including a free 3 gallon 4 port tank)
53461
Forjworks bag over coil Megan Specific front mounting plates for UAS Aero Sport Bags
53460
Lastly I picked up a manual management kit with all lines, fittings, switches, mounting hardware, wiring, everything in this kit minus the compressor and tank

!!!! MY BODY IS READY! as usual, you're one step ahead of me! I keep almost flipping the switch and bagging mine, myself. I'll be following this closely.....
Yea man you took a hiatus when you started on the Z and i thought for a minute you parted out, now i see pics all over my FB, IG, blah blah with you and Connor so i was delighted to see Gnar 2.0 was still alive lol
I dont really want to bag and everytime I see my car im like hey its fine no need to go lower lol but then i flip back to hating my fitment and wanting to tuck my fender in my barrel lol ive realised i dont think ill ever be 100% happy with it but ill keep up the pursuit lol
mr_miles
05-06-2014, 09:04 PM
I did take a hiatus - winter made me dislike the car for some reason. And I've been working a lot lately so I haven't had much time for fun yaris stuff haha. Didnt help that I know no one in the subcompact game, I was getting lonely....to many honda kids here that I don't associate with lol. I'm glad Conor is over here, Makes it more fun!
For sure I get the same way, when stuff starts breaking, youre on your steelies for wintermode, no mods, and no fun meets with similar minded people, you just stop wanting to wrench and stop liking your car altogether lol
glad youve got a meet buddy now, I linked up with a crew comprised of all toyota/lexus/scion and theyve become some of my closest friends so that has helped as well.
Glad youre back man, ill be waiting excitedly for updates

After my work week is over I'm debating going up to -3 degrees up front so I can go lower. the rotiforms make the car so high! I haven't hit frame for weeks! lol. I also need to re-re-re-straighten my underpanel so I can put it back on after loosing it a few weeks ago on some road that sunk in.
What's the total cost so far of the bag setup?

Yea man that is the problem I had with 17s too, I want 17s for the large face and the way they fill the wheel well, but its so hard to go low enough on them. A lot more camber, and fenderwork should put you back where you want to be. Sucks about the underpanel at least you have one lol
So far Ive paid about $550 and the only thing i still need is front bags, rear bags, and rear brackets so this will be one of the cheapest air rides ever built lol, gotta love that rear torsion beam, if it fits, it lifts lol

YW help me out, how much paint should i need for my side skirts? 12 oz aerosol good? do I need two cans?
My experience is that I always buy about half of what I actually need. I recently painted a spoiler and three 12 oz cans was almost enough. With the body color matched paint you have to do many light coats to get the same shade as your car. If you hit it with thick coats it will not match as well.
For your two skirts I would recommend at least 4 cans and probably more like 6 to be safe.
wow ok thanks Scott and the same amount of clear or more/less clear?
IllusionX
05-13-2014, 11:11 AM
Thicker clear will also give a different shade. I guess you have to test it out.
but is it normal to apply the same number of coats of paint AND clear?
CTScott
05-13-2014, 11:22 AM
but is it normal to apply the same number of coats of paint AND clear?
I typically do 3 very thin coats of clear and wet sand with 2000 grit in between coats. Clear goes much further (1/2 or less used of clear versus base color).
perfect thanks once again for the help, hopefully I can have these painted and mounted soon

Nice pics man!
I had my car slammed to the ground before until I attempted to pass an unavoidable speed bump (used a lot of angle entering it too) and got my under-carriage stuck at the high point of the bump. Didn't want to deal with that problem anymore, along with the angry drivers that got no patience for me to take the extra time to get into a parking lot so I raised it........................ A BIT! lol
haha yea I deal with that on a daily basis lol, i get stuck some times and bottom out quite often, not to mention i creep over most bumps in the road and back up traffic... but i dont care haha

Result of fender rolling? Is fitment of side skirts affected? Looks like you've introduced a good 1/4" in total length from leading edge of front fender to rear fender based on that fender to rocker panel gap.
Yes its from pulling the fender out lol, its not a side to side gap really its pulling up away from the body, when you press it back in it makes a pretty tight seam like it used to. No effect on side skirts fitment.
Sometimes I hate these damn sedans. Idk why but since removing any last hardware I had in my rear height adjusters, my rear height had my fenders sitting like a mm below the lip protector of my tire, as seen in the pic below
53693
Now that my springs have had time to settle, the ride height is actually getting taller, I have no idea why. It seems the sedans have such a hard
time getting low, our rear bumpers angle up so high and i cant bring the shock towers as low as I want.
53694
I am already running 130 mm 5" springs. I purchased a pair of 4" 11k springs from Garm lets see how those do.
I know this is theoretically not possible but could my shocks being too long have any effect on my ride height? My passenger shock is about 3-5mm shorter than my driver just by error and it sits slightly lower even never having a passenger.
Been working on my side skirts for a few weeks and finished them Wednesday. Not perfect but for backyard rattle can work and having little painting experience, I am impressed. I'd say about 8/10 considering some minor defects in the primer coats and a duller gloss. Installing today so I will have them for Cars N Beaches this weekend.
53711
53712
53713
53714
On a less light note, stacking camber shims in the rear has caused me some issues with toe. My camber is extreme but the toe is way off and is causing some bad wandering on the roads and horrible tire wear. After only 3k miles or less at -6 degrees my tires were barely worn, after adding the second shims and driving about 250 miles my passenger rear is almost ready for a flip.
53715
wildmongoose26
06-13-2014, 09:59 AM
Only thing you can do at this point is get an alignment, find out the toe, take the shims to a machine shop to have shaved down and put back on. Should correct most if not all of your toe if done correctly.
wildmongoose26
06-13-2014, 09:59 AM
Oh, and the sideskirts, let them cure for awhile and wetsand them and polish them. you'll be good there too.

Cool thanks for the tips, I know you know your s*** when it comes to show ready lol. Today at install time makes over 2 days of straight curing in the FL heat so they should be ready to go, I plan on sanding them slightly and waxing/polishing them too.
Removing and machining the shims is something I was trying to avoid at all costs lol its going to be a big dent in my wallet and i have the hardest time finding machining shops around Tampa that do small time work lol
wildmongoose26
06-13-2014, 01:11 PM
Cheaper to have the shims machines than it is to replace / flip tires every 2 months.
Cheaper to have the shims machines than it is to replace / flip tires every 2 months.
hmm good point. Im going to try a little more experimenting with the placement and if that fails ill try and find a machine shop
mr_miles
06-13-2014, 08:06 PM
Did you make sure they both ended up on the correct side? I flipped mine on accident a while back and screwed up brand new tires on the rotiforms lol. you also might be able to put the top ones on the wrong side to possibly even the toe out. Sadly you'll need a whole day at an alignment shop with a bag of tools :p
LOL yeah I am going to try messing with the setup tomorrow, Im just going to throw them all around the car and see how it effects the toe. I can tell by eye and by feel while im driving so it should feel much better once I find the correct pairing. If not im just going back to the single -5s, I drive this car way too much to get 1-2k miles out of a set of tires.

I used to do that all the time. but im telling you, Toothpaste does the same thing, and no need for tools or taping around or anything. just give it a try and you will see. All you have to do is put some good all Whitening Colgate on a piece of paper towel, and just scrub the lenses. water and you will get MINTY HEADLIGHTS
Thats how i used to do it as well but within the week they would turn this nasty yellow color, at least now they only get hazey and dont get yellow before I redo them

I would have thought that the cables crossing the mural in the lower left quadrant would have been considered more annoying than the center cap. Looks fantastic now that the whole thing has been cleaned up.

So its been almost 5 months since I've been on here and I'm sad to say but the reason I'm on now is to announce my partout. It's time to return the yaris to stock and move to a more legit platform. I've been through so much with this car, learned a lot, and loved most of the journey but all good things must come to an end.
My partout thread will be up soon. Everything is for sale! Thanks again to everyone in the community for support.

Nah they actually don't excite me that much and I am not buying anything new. This will be an older project.
