And this is clearly darwinism in action. I've had cars(both owned and rented) where the first thing I did was toss the floor mats. If you don't have the common sense to see a loose mat is gonna get caught under the pedals, you probably shouldn't be operating a car. The yaris is the first car I've driven with floor mats in a long time, because it has the clips.

Also, enough with the alarmism. They haven't even finished the investigation, and this is a VOLUNTARY recall by toyota.
Hm, you can still throw it in N and ease on the brake, jerking it will get you nowhere, I agree.

Hell, neutral, ease on the e-brake and slowly ease the car over to grind up against a guardrail for more friction.

i think i read that in a push button car you just hold down the button for 3 seconds to turn it off. i didn't know this before i read that but i also don't own a push button vehicle. i hate those things. what so frickin hard about turning a key anyway?

Nothing usually, but ask people with arthritis

IMO I don't even consider this a recall. It's just another media campaign to scare the shit of people. They're making a bigger stink about this than our seatbelt foam issue from months back. Might as well call this another Swine Flu "epidemic" to expose the idiots in society ..again...
