How about clearing out some old "stickies".

Anyone else a bit annoyed by all the old sticky threads crowding the top of these forums? Many of which haven't seen activity in years.

Can the mods clean out the now irrelevant ones?

Just a thought, thanks.

Right on!

I've got a huge high-def monitor, yet on some sub-forums... all I see is stickies 'cause there's so damn many of them...

Maybe they can be consolidated into one place instead of the top of each topic...?

Like which ones?

We don't mind getting rid of anything but we don't want ruffled feathers ;)

Point to those you can't stand and we'll see what we can do, K?

(All except the panda thread, that is ;)

The "Bambo the Yarisworld Traveler" threads was my first choice.

Seriously, we need to keep all 4 as stickies? 3 closed ones that I doubt anyone has looked at in years.

Well, I guess this is a lost cause. We'll just keep scrolling down past dozens of inactive old stickies.

New YARIS Purchase Forum

This one is the worst offender. Maybe make another compilation thread instead of having, for example 8 separate DIYs.

Also move Sticky: DIY amp wire running and radio trim removal to In Car Entertainment + Electronics (audio / video / alarm)

I'd be willing to make a new compilation thread, but it would have to be a little bit after Christmas!

Does anyone have any problem with these suggestions?

No problems, as his thoughts are reasonable and coherent. Maybe take all of bamboo and make his own sub forum with the stickies in there?

but one thing I have seen that has worked, is to make one key thread in each area that has the appropriate links to the threads in the area(example: nasioc. In the newbie section, there is a thread that says before asking questions, read this. In that thread is a list of the frequently asked questions, and links to the respective threads answering said questions.)

I'm in agreement that old inactive threads should be un-stickied. However, you could just close them and unsticky them, and they will float to the bottom of that forum, but not be lost from the database.

Solves both problems at once.

I'm all for doing some spring cleaning as long as there are no objections with the target threads. @jpmck03's list looks like a good starting place to me...

Go for it, TK. I'm guessing the Off-Section (Bamboo threads) are not really the problem here ;) but if that'll make you happy, I'll link them to the active thread and let them float down at the bottom

tsk, tsk... I guess majority rules (sometimes)

I guess we could leave the latest Bamboo thread stuck for nostalgia's sake...

OK so I cleaned up most of these plus a few more I found along the way... I also unstuck the DIY threads and instead added them to the DIY compilation thread. Let me know if I missed anything (or if something should be put back!).

Looks a lot better. Especially that (formerly) crowded DIY section.
