--- So, the little trailer was a gateway drug. I've now ended up with this. Poor Yaris has been demoted from the tractor to the toad. I'll probably keep the trailer to lend out to friends, unless someone really wants to buy a totally custom Yaris-sized travel trailer. Last edited by grilled cheeseus; 02-01-2019 at 03:23 PM. |

There's more demand for these type of trailers than you'd expect. I think it's because most people who want one don't have the skills to build one or the budget to buy factory built. |

Also many just can't afford something that needs a half ton truck to tow. I sold my truck. The maintenance and fuel costs are crazy. Wheel bearing on a yaris: $130cad. Wheel bearing on a 1500 ram: $450 cad. Funny thing is, the yaris with a small utility trailer can carry just much weight as a half ton pick up can in its bed. Just can't tow a 26' r.v. with a yaris.

Yaris double tow bolts for receiving a tow hitch?
(for towing a Yaris...maybe)
There's a big eyebolt in the trunk that screws into the right side of the front bumper. Weld same socket for same eyebolt on left side of bumper. Aim central axis of each eyebolt eye horizontally. Now a typical sort of forked towbar can be fitted to a ball on the tow vehicle and swing vertically on the eyebolts so the towed and tow vehicles can move as they need to in road slope transitions, but stay in one track. (Not advice, but something I'd consider for my own vehicle...I'd like to have two tow points at each end of the car in any case...like cars used to have.) |

For my trip back East later this spring, I'll probably just rent a car dolly from U-Haul. No mods to Yaris needed for that. Eventually I might install one of these which are actually designed for flat-towing. I don't think I would trust that eyebolt to not eventually strip the threads in the bumper. |

Thanks for that idea and photo! Are those OEM Yaris towing eyebolts? All the way screwed in? (I didn't picture mine sticking out that far.)

Didn't mean for this thread to turn into an advert, but after upgrading I've decided to sell the little trailer. If anyone is interested, I'm asking $5k firm and it's currently in Tucson.
