FuuFuu 2011 Hatchback Build Thread

Most recent comments in RED

I am a new guy from Gatlinburg TN. I just bought an 11 Yaris in white, a 2 door hatch with now about 200 miles. Its replacing my 03 Ranger as a daily driver since I have almost 170K on my baby. This will let me tear her apart and redo everything so that she can be a proper show truck. I dont have many plans on modifying the Yaris, as once its paid off and I get out of school I plan on trading it in, probably for a newer one if I continue to like this one. I want to try a few things on this one for future reference though.

Im mostly wanting to get the most mpg out of my yaris as possible, but I cant find the exact parts I need. Ive seen some salt flat hubs, but Im getting mixed answers on whether they fit the stock wheels or not.

Im also wanting to fashion wheel skirts in the rear, and a lower grill block up front. Anyone made any here yet and have some advice?

Other than that itll stay stock minus a logo I want to paint on the salt rims and maybe a black stripe or something so I can pick it out from a crowd, as I never had that problem in my truck ;3 Got a spare set of underglow to slap on it for the heck of it too, might as well put it to use.

Swapped huge White neons tubes for purple slimline led tubes from Ranger.

Currenty:Trying to remove rear seats and build custom back floorboard.
Waiting on Scangauge II for Christmas :D
Looking at interior ideas that are fully removeable (IE modifying seat covers
and a custom floorboard when back seat is removed.

-shrugs-

MY truck has it as well, matches my purple gauges. Its probably considered rice, bu tI like the added visability with them, I have a big enough fear of the big arsed trucks around here running me over as it is, anything that screams HERE I AM is great :p

BEsides we all know it adds 25 horsepower and automagically converts it to a RWD :p

Im not talking about body kits, but the skirts similar to what you find on old american cars, such as some lincolns and stuff that extended the line of the bottom of the car over the rear tires, filling the gap and covering up about 1/2 of the rear tire.

Ive been rolling over the idea of stripes on the Yaris, heres what Ive come up with. This is a crappy paint version, but the concept is all I need. I was wondering if maybe it would look better with the stripes off to one side insidea of the traditional two racing stripes in the center? The FuuFuu Logo is going to be in reverse on the stripes.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture takes too long to upload by dialup

the salt flat hub caps are called moon discs. they usually run about $100/set but you really don't gain much from that. I would say to go with a lower grill block first. I have heard that you have to be careful with an auto trans as the trans cooler is somewhere in there (manual guy myself). on my cavalier, I used plexiglass that was removable at first, then molded it in, then fiberglassed it over. that process took about 2 years. wanted to make sure it wouldn't overheat.

if you are really big on the MPG side, I would say to either get a scangauge or ultragauge. either will do what you want (MPG meter) they will show you all sorts of things and work on anything 1996 and newer so you can take it with you if and when you trade it in.

good luck on the mileage venture. I am seeing around 41 right now. was hoping for better but I can't complain.

So, the black stripe would be what you would use to differentiate between your Yaris and other cars out there? I'd think having the only Yaris on the planet with wheel skirts would make it really easy to pick out from the crowd!

It'd be really interesting to see a Yaris with some wheel skirts. Would definitely be one-of-a-kind.

Also, mad props for that Ranger looking so good with 170k on it. Impressive!

Ha, I was picturing what would happen if a first gen Honda Insight made some sweet love to a first gen Yaris/Echo... You'd have a baby second gen Yaris with some Insight wheel skirts.

Hahaha Hopefully we dont run this guy off, but ya those hondas are gross so that should tell the OP one thing!!! I hope he knows everyone around here by now jokes around a lot! But maybe he will start picking up some things to do to his Yaris that help with MPG but still keep it looking good!

To the OP i really think you should stay clear of the Fleetwood style rears! I know there are a few guys on here getting crazy gas mileage with some Moons and a few other mods that help with gas mileage and your still keeping the Yaris fresh looking

Well, the good news is that it says he's offline right now, so I'm guessing he'll read through all of the posts and realize that we've got some jokers on here.

I don't think anything said could be construed to be negative. Guess I'm feeling snarky tonight? It's all good!

Ive been a member of the Ranger forum for some time now, no one can poke fun like them :[

The told me not to trust anything that fits in my pocket for transportation D:

I thought the flat salt discs were different from moons? Ive been looking for moons for my other car (escort) because they are rounder and look more spherical, whereas I thought the flats were well, flat? I'm wanting flat to paint the SkeleBunny FuuFuu image on them XD

Either way anyone know of where the members pictured purchased theirs from? I want to insure mine fit D:

As for the skirts, most of my driving is to school, about 120 miles round trip twice a week, speeds ranging from 45-65. I thought I saw a yaris with skirts on another forum? I plan on a grille block, but gotta check on the transcooler first. Ill be getting a scangauge soon too, but until I break it in at 1k miles I cant try to hypermile anyways. I've averaging 47-51mpg on the 25 mile trip each way to work and back, and about 36-42 with school, but I rode her hard off and on the school to ensure Im breaking her in when I have the open room to

Other than that, for my stripe, should I do it off to one side? I think straight down the middle would look too, musclecar-esque XD

Also JPM and anyone else who wants to see the truck, heres some photos of how it is now, before I tear down and go all out

as well as some older photos

Doesnt look bad on Prius. I plan on using them on my other two vehickles as well, not for aero, but for looks. Will make mini truck look longer and lower once I bag it, and the escort will be retromodded to look liek a 50s ambulance, so these are a must for it!

Glad that you have a sense of humor about your new Hot Wheels-sized car!

Now that I see some more pics of that Ranger... Wow, that thing's intense! Good job, you pulled off the poker/deck-of-cards them well!

The uncle calls it the SmartCar Limo lol

Thanks, it was my first real vehicle, I cant wait to really do it right this time. I designed the logos in photoshop myself, you see Im an art major at university D: I wonder if I should add sparkle or something in the stripes like the real flames on the truck... hmmm now off to look at more pictures!

Back to the Yarii though, is there a place that sells those fuse taps? I cant seem to find them where I live even at the auto stores. :'(
