True. I guess I would mainly loosely monitor that parameter in torque for significant changes in fuel consumption. Pretty much the same for other parameters like longer term changes in coolant temp, A/FR, voltage etc.

Update: Today (62 degrees F), I drove about 45 minutes with my OBD2 scanner plugged in. 1/3 city, 1/3 highway and 1/3 back roads. I got 42.1 MPG (imperial) or 35 MPG (US). It's been cold here and gas is 10% ethanol. Maybe it's just my kid's right foot?

Is your kid driving in top gear? Some years ago, my sister had a (different brand) 5 speed manual, and used to stay in 3rd until she got above 50 MPH. She said this gave her better acceleration...

Is the engine running too cool? Over the winter I block the grill. Temp gets up to 185 instead of 176.
This really helped my winter MPGs but nobody believes me.http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59283 |

The car will bump idle up if the engine temp is too low. I'm currently sitting in my car, roughly freezing out, heat on full, rpm steady at 1150. In summer it's around half that. So as for the OPs questions.... It's winter. Mileage sucks. Sorry!

Teen male gasoline miles per gallon
I'm in the cold end of a narrow valley in PA. Honest avg. 36.xx mpg by box-stock (w/rear seat delete) w/ original base model odometer calibration and 3% larger tread circumference of the RS. Not hypermiling...well, maybe some of it is. Not driving like I did in the new 67 Beetle family car. Season doesn't seem to matter.
I had a learner's permit for one week. Just a couple rides w/ dad. I think he hated it. Quiet and feet pushed hard on the floor boards...do appreciate that he told me to brake real hard to see what it felt like. (Maybe he wasn't sure when I would do it again?) Find a way to drive one tank through that Yaris. (edit: Oops... didn't read this page of responses before posting this.) Last edited by dogsridewith; 02-06-2019 at 08:20 AM. |

Haha. In my van, I can see a couple hundred L per 100 km if I stomp on it.

Haha, just makes you wonder how long it would take to drain a tank if you kept on it. The Lambda v6 in my van likes its fuel when tromped on, and it's obvious as this minivan is like a rocket despite being almost 2.5 tons.
