Did I pay too much for my Yaris?

Grand Total near $18,898. The Total MSRP was $15,975, but the salesman told me that this car was in high demand (June 2008), that the "market value" was $16,975.

What do you think?

Are you saying that the dealer took it upon themselves to tack an extra $1,000 to the MSRP? Is that the jump from the 15,975 on the sticker to 16,975 on the agreement?

Yeah. That's what he said. Something about adjusting the price for the market value. They only 4 Yaris when I went there, and only 1 was the auto that I wanted, with the power option.....

I would never pay over MSRP and then all the added stuff, too? What is vehicle protection plan and documentary fee and you paid $19 for them to run your credit? $1200 for sales tax (I know that's set), but we only pay $300 max in SC.

Glad I don't live in NJ.

The important thing is that you are happy with your car though.

Were you aware of the extra $1000 or did the salesperson ask you to sign without the explanation? It does seem a little high, but how much is tax in NJ (8%)?
$294/month x 75 months - wow. I hope you pay off this thing soon or your grand total after you complete your payments will be like $25,000 for that car.

I think the +$1000 is BS. My dealer appologized for having to charge me full MSRP and offered me a 50% discount on the extended warranty as a bone (which I didn't take).

I paid sticker and thought I over paid.
My buddy paid $10,000 over sticker for his zo6 vette.
I personally wouldn't pay over sticker for any vehicle, might as well just move up to a nicer vehicle, but It's too late now, don't sweat the $1000.

Well, you paid $1000 over sticker, plus $189 Vehicle Protection Program fee, plus $289 Documentation fee... all pure profit. And, 75 months @ $295. with $2000 down! I'd say you took it up the...

Sorry to hear that...

I paid 1500 less than MSRP here in Fl.

I was not under the impression that was even legal to do... adding 1000... they cannot even sell a single car right now in most places. They should have given you 1000 off at least.

If this is how Toyota is going to stay afloat... count me out of it

I would say... if they put a bunch of "happy ending" H@nd J&bs under the "handling" category ... then you will have your losses back...

I bought a Ford Currier from Lakewood Crookland 32 years ago. They took me to the cleaners. I never bought another Ford or a vehicle from them again. I did learn a lot about car dealing which helped me for the next 20+ cars that I have owned. Before tax I bought my Yaris for 13k in April.
