This bit of info let me dredge up something that might explain why earlier folks had fewer issues with the throttle-body swap.

Some Corolla's came with throttle bodies with ID #22041 on the chip housing. Others have that problematic chip-housing with ID #0D031. What'cha wanna bet the #22041 chip is special in some way? :-)

DUDE YOU ROCK!!!

Thank you for solving this issue for us. I can now finally install mine without a CEL coming on.

Does this also solve the high rpm when cold problem?

This is great. I am so stoked to get this on the car. It truly makes a difference that can be felt.

Do I need to drill through the bolts in order to crack open the TBs? Is there a better/safer way to accomplish this?
Also, what is the best way to trim the intake tube to fit the new diameter?

I believe they are riveted, so you will most likely have to drill them out. or be really careful prying them out

Edit, nevermind, he beat me to it.

Cool. I'll take the high rpm at cold idle if we can get rid of the CEL.

Thanks again T-Sport. This made my day.

Good work on figuring this out. Where did you get a 1zz tb? At a junkyard?

I've had my 1ZZ TB on for over 20K miles and never had a CEL or oscillation of any kind.

You probably got a defective junkyard TB and swapping out that casing fixed whatever problems you were having with it before.

that's another possibility, but it would be interesting if you could look at the model number on yours, to test WolfWings' theory!
