OMG, I resigned from my job!

What have I done!

Organizational change. Stress. Couldn't take it anymore, so yesterday, after 19 years I gave notice. Health, happiness, and family life had been suffering. Time had come to shake up my life.

Nothing on the horizon right now. Gonna take some time to reflect and reassess where I am, and what will continue to make me happy going forward from here.

Thankfully I have the support of a loving family. Wish me luck.

I've pulled the plug twice, myself. Just remember why you made the choice and avoid putting yourself in the same situation again. (for me, the first jump was leaving the military... the second jump was leaving KS where the military left me, and going back home to FL)

Good luck!

The most liberating thing I did was to move all the way out to California. Starting from scratch is NOT for the faint of the heart, though.

Maybe the OP could try self-employment. I don't know the rules up in Canada, but out here in the states, I did that when I couldn't get a job, and I found that it can be pretty fulfilling (make your own hours, work as little or as much as you want, etc. - although the benefits (health insurance, etc.) can be limited.

Meeting your wife, and daughter, you'll be just fine!!! After our conversation at the meet last week, you heard me talk about being scared with what I've been through. My family was key, you'll be fine Steve. If you wanna part with the springs, let me know, lol Seriously good for you, takes balls

I'm happy for you, because after all, shouldn't you love your job? Find somethign that makes you happy, even if it pays less than before.

If you knew you were going to quit soon why not look for another job and have something in the works? Right now is such a hard time to find a job. I hate my job so so much. I think to the point where i am getting a stomach ulcer from all the stress. But I have no other options at the moment because there are literally no jobs in my field at all. None. I put all my resumes out on all the job searches and not one email or call. And i check the postings daily and no new jobs are poping up. So rather than be jobless and behind on my bills I have to force myself and just tell myself atleast I have a job.

You've got big stones my friend.
In this economy it's tough to find work. Employers know that and use that as leverage to exploit their staff.
Annie's coach found a new job. But now he feels he has to check the crackberry throughout the evening or that job is at risk.
Between laptops and crackberries, employers have folks tied to the job 24/7. Whatever happened to that 4 day workweek that 15 years ago was predicted to be in place by today. It seems we've gone from 6 days to 5, and now back to 7 for many.

At least now you've got time to winterize the property.
