You can drive it as long as you are able to without running out of fuel or falling asleep.
If YOU are able to drive 1000km, the car is certainly able to go that distance without any problems. |

I drove from Minneapolis to Philadelphia which is 1400 miles in 18 hours once. I left at 10 o’clock at night and arrive at 4 o’clock the next day

There really is no distance at which you say to yourself 'It has been going long enough, better shut down and let it rest'.

At 20k miles I'll be a quart down...easier to refuel on the fly than add oil.
(a more common practice w/ airplanes) |

Thanks for your reply, it's good to know that i can drive this tiny car over the vast desert from Jubail Saudi Arabia to Dubai (~1000km). I will certainly have some few stops for rest/food and re-fuel. Just want to make sure in reliability point of view as my family will be with me. Anyway, this car is new and regularly maintained (regularly changed the fully syn lubricants, spark plugs changed every 20k km as well as engine and oil filters every less than 10k km, engine coolant has been replaced last year with genuine long life). I think were good to go. again just this question, for average speed of 120km/hr at (3500-4000rpm) is it safe to avoid overheating? as i dont have gauges for temperature in my yaris. Thanks again for your feedback. |

Yaris reliability engine RPM waterpump Mind of Toyota
Lugging--high torque at low RPM--is what's hard on engines. Yaris has a 6k rpm rev limiter so you won't over spin it. (Though maybe not the best to hit 6k rpm on a 100K mile engine that's never seen over 3500 rpm.) See the max speed in gears in the owner's manual. (For almost all passing/merging situations, just need 2nd and 3rd gear on the manual trans Yaris.)
I view the serpentine belt and water pump as a problem area on Yaris from discussions here--over tightened belt by mechanics kills water pump, and/or owners driving w/ broken belt or lost coolant (and high temp. light on) warp the head and/or block |

Glad we safely completed the trip with my family ==== > ~2200km (total) at about 3500-400rpm average 120-130km/hr. There was heavy sandstorm coupled with rain showers on half of the trip which was scheduled for 9hrs but ended with 11 hours due to the inclement weather and the need to stop for personal necessities.
Really proud of this small Yaris... There was constant power whenever i stepped on the gas pedal. Some roads in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are having 160km/hr limit and this car doesnt disappoint us... Preparations i did to get rid of our anxiety. Thanks to this forum for all DIY tutorials provided. I did it as a newbie but i still did it successfully. 1. Changed new 4 genuine toyota spark plugs - Do it myself 2. Dismantled the Throttle Body and cleaned it with AC delco spray - Do it myself 3. Cleaned the MAF sensor with gunk MAF cleaner - Do it myself 4. changed new genuine toyota engine air filter - Do it myself 5. flushed toyota long life coolant - Do it myself 6. put lithium grease for shifter/linkages - Do it myself 7. filled the tires with correct air pressure 8. changed fully synthetic oil 05w30/ genuine oil filter - Shop job as i dont have tools and area crawl under. It was fantastic trip we want to do it again... Now my car deserved a full bath... it was too dusty and dirty and it took all the punishment... |

In Ontario, commercial drivers are NOT allowed to exceed 14 hours of driving in a 24 hour period. Commercial drivers are also not allowed to start driving after 13 hours of on duty time. Everyone should probably loosely follow these guidelines. This pertains to the driver, not the vehicle.
