I remember hearing something a long time ago about it not being good for the car to fill past the first click, so that's what I've done with my Yaris. Before it, I would "top off" my tanks.

At the end of the day, I don't think the added drops are worth any risk, so I'd play it safe rather than sorry. Stopping for gas a couple miles early just isn't worth it, imho.
