1st,
You run lower pressure at the track because you have to allow for heating of the tires. Tires on the track can get so hot you can't touch them barehanded, hence you eventually build to a higher pressure. So you are still running higher pressure on the track once the tires get up to temp. You usually log track tire temps and the corresponding tire pressures so you know where to start cold. You should never have this much heat in a street tire obviously, unless severely underinflated, or one is driving in an extremely non street friendly manner. R2 |
