Well, luckily I'm borrowing them from a co-worker and didn't have to pay anything!

I happen to like Forest Whitiker, too.

These poor inner-city families are living commune-style in this closed gated community in some Mexican city. They are about to celebrate this festival honoring the deceased relatives and the Saints. Someone drops one of the ceremonial statues, and they realize that the contents are pure gold. So, the families start battling over them, to cash them in for a better life. People start getting killed, and noone knows who has them... it's quite funny. Check it out. What are those you listed like?

you would like common wealth, similar story, great movie

the most shocking movie I saw this year was short bus, basically it is porn and if you are not very accepting I wouldn't reccomend at all, by no means is this movie mild

i gotta get that santos peregrinos, sounds like a great flick.

the motorcycle diaries follows che guevara and his best friend while he was in his early twenties. they embark on a motorcycle trip througout south america, where he faces the injustices the poor have to endure to get by in life, while the big oil/mining corporation exploit the land/people while getting filthy rich. he was going to be a doctor but the trip made him change his future into the che we know today.

y tu mama tambien has 2 young teenagers coming of age with an older woman. they learn about life and love. i saw it last year so my memory is not the best, but i know is a good movie.

Lets see...

I don't watch new movies too often, theres alot of classics I haven't seen yet that are much, much better than what comes out now.

Anyway:
Last night I finally watched Infernal Affairs. Well done movie, but I actually enjoyed The Departed more. Maybe if I hadn't seen the remake first...

I've got Derzu Uzala sitting at home. A late Akira Kurosawa movie.

Got stuck in the front row for Harry Potter 5. Decent adaptation of the source material - which wasn't that great to begin with.

Spider-Man 3 last week. Not as good as 1, which wasn't as good as 2. Too much stuff going on, but oddly too much character exposition - which already happened in the first 2 movies!

About a month ago I watched Sky High, the Japanese ghost movie, not the Disney movie ;) . Pretty good, but not as good as the directors other ghost movies (Versus and Akumi)

I only use blockbuster cuz i get two coupons for free in-store video or GAME rental.. and guess what I use it for... that's right, GAMES! and i can easily just go into the store and pick up new movies after i watched the dvds that comes in the mail. they are also doing blu-ray and hd dvd online now but those are impossible to get since everyone is renting it and there aren't that many blu-ray/hd dvd titles out yet. I pay 17.99 a month for all this. And I live in crazy commercial area.. so I think the only video rental stores around are... blockbuster and possibly hollywood video but I've never been to one myself.

my friends switched from netflix to blockbuster, like you they like being able to go to the store, their tastes are more mainstream than mine

I didn't enjoy Hostel so I haven't even bothered with Hostel 2 yet. Something has been lost in these movies. This guy is getting a ton of credit for these movies and me being a horror fan; I would put his movies in another genre. Just not my thing but nice to see lots of tits.

American Beauty was good and also around that time and often overlooked, The Virgin Suicides

Have you seen Ichi-1 based on the same character but different director? I haven't seen yet. It is a prequel to Ichi the Killer.
