Why does the poll show only two choices?

Do this: Pick the "worse" and cheapest synthetic oil on the market that has the current API ratings (SM). Use that oil and your car will last no less long as if you had used AMSOIL or Mobil1 or any of the other brands.

People say this oil is great or that oil is great but how do they know? They like the purple color? They think paying a premium means longer lasting car? How many of these people actually send a used oil sample to a testing lab like BlackStone for thorough analysis? Yet the ones that don't have their used oil analyzed will push their brand of choice hard. Lots of hearsay, lots of parroting the claims of others.

Me? I use the cheapest on-sale full synthetic and don't have the dillusion that one is much better the the other. I've seen the UOA's (used oil analysis) at BobIsTheOilGuy dot com and I'm convinced that as long as (1) the oil has the latest ratings (2) is synthetic, (3) correct viscosity and (4) mated with a decent filter, your car will last 300,000+ miles regardless of brand.

Please guys lets not turn motor oil into a religion filled with passion and fervor ;-)
