Crashy has JDM Push-To-Start!!!!

I haven't posted any updates on Crashy in a while now. Thus far this winter she has plowed seven storms worth of snow. She also continues to be a valuable development platform.

Her latest task was to test implementation of a real JDM Vitz push-to-start switch, which Echo_hrs purchased via the yahoo Japan auctions and shipped to me, so I could figure out how to make it work for our Yaris.

Here's a video explaining how it works and demonstrating it working on Crashy:

Yes, from my interface it's just three wires and a ground to the car.

On MI we were discussing if the USDM switch used on the Camry and Avalon might be the same as the JDM Yaris one. The visible part looks identical, so I need to track down the EWD for either of them an compare it. The most difficult part to get would be the European LHD Yaris trim piece that the switch mounts to.

I know Steve and another member here found a hold to the right of the steering wheel on our cars in the shape of a sphere (somewhere below the compartment, to the right of it near steering wheel ...could we use that to mount the start/stop button possibly? I could dremel the holes size to make it bigger if need be~

I need to find the thread where it was posted on here, it was after the hack, so it's still active..

The hole is there under the small cover that is to the right of the steering column (where many of us have mounted our switches for our DIY cruise control). The inside hole is the correct size. The cover is what needs to have the hole to accept the switch. It would be possible to drill the correct sized hole to mount the switch, but the real cover for the European cars which have push-to-start, have a nice bevel molded in around the switch.

Crashy just finished her 10th round of plowing. At this point the piles of snow off the sides of the driveway are getting huge. This one is almost up to her roof line:

Gonna come down to PA and help out your neighbors with the next storm? Our road wasn't plowed till well into the afternoon of the day after the last storm... It sucked! I actually had plans that day to go do things, but couldn't because we couldn't get anywhere past our driveway.

One of my neighbors noticed it when I was plowing last night and asked if that was where I bought my plow.
