How did it run before?

I ran the whole thing, with help from the moderators.

The process originally started as a photo contest, we simply had people submit their photos of their cars in a designated thread... Then I would contact the moderators on the site to vote for whom they thought had the best photo for the month. This became the general structure, it really didnt become a popularity thing, just whoever could submit an awesome pic. Then I contacted the winner, tried to get some extra pics of the car. Then did a thread on it, announcing the winner and a little bit about their car and who the member was behind it.

Then we tried to change it up a little bit, because people were griping there was no community interaction with the process, in other words...the people screamed Democracy and we tried to deliver... So it changed to where we started to submit a member who they thought should be awarded with the honors as "Yaris/Member of the Month"...after reviewing the people, It was chosen between a couple persons/cars, and they were put into a poll to be voted on...Once again, problems arose and it became a big popularity contest.

When the hack wiped it out, it was long forgotten and no one really asked any questions to where it went or why didnt we have it. Soooo. It became forgotten until this thread.


I for one would be willing to try and help with the whole process if asked. Since I have done it before.

Hmmm. yeah, I see your point. Sometimes, democracy can bring dissent ;)

The structure sounds good (having some members do the leg work, then the mods look over their shoulder, sticky what needs to be stickied, lock whatever needs to be locked, you know, business as usual ;) but administering the YOTM thread is probably gonna be a handful. You can only have 12 winners per year, and that's gonna leave a lot of ruffled feather out there, hmmmm.... IDK what to tell you.
