WTB: Fog light switch from the Micro Image fog light kit
Hi,
if anyone didn't use their fog light switch, I'm in need of one, after breaking it when doing the install. http://i.imgur.com/klEF23p.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9aKY3nM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/H9zFvGi.jpg Name your price and shipping to 35213/Alabama. Of course if Garm will sell me another one, that'd be great too :-) |

Oy, how exactly do I open the switch to snip the resistor?
CTScott, did you snip a resistor? Right now I've installed the kit, but the fog lights do not turn on. However the switch lights up, even when the key is out of the ignition, ie hot bus. Seeing as I broke the previous switch without even getting it open, there must be a trick to opening it that I don't understand. |

If the light is always on and the switch does not turn the fogs on, it sounds like you have a wiring issue. Post a pic of where the switch wires are connected to.

Album: http://imgur.com/gallery/ptKzH/new
Most relevant: http://i.imgur.com/1ycFWpo.jpg I followed the instructions that are on the MI website under the fog light product description. The top document anyway. More: http://i.imgur.com/1hwHsAB.jpg Noticed something that is relevant: http://i.imgur.com/GxiVvWN.jpg The green wire is effectively plugged into nothing. There are no pins on the D4 steering column terminal for where the green wire plugs in. Last edited by swidd; 05-14-2013 at 07:07 PM. |

So for option 6 b, fog lights on with low, high and park:
I will be plugging both wires from the switch into 13 and 3? But 3 doesn't connect to anything... Am I supposed to just remove the wires that are in there already, and leave them hanging unconnected? |

We only have one set of instructions posted, for the aftermarket round switch. They would not be correct for the rectangular switch we used to include (a big reason was because of the modification needed on the switch)

Into the original Yellow wire 3 (you will put it back as it was when you started and then tap one of the switch wires to it and the other to the wire in pin 13).

So I have to remove the ends of the switch's wire and just tap 3 and 13... Okay :-)
I really didn't understand that from reading the manual. I'm not a smart man :-/ |

There was always much confusion on that. It means that you need to split the switch's harness all the way to the switch, so that there are four completely separate wires, and then you need to extend some of them to reach where they need to go.

Now you just confused me even more. There's three wires coming out of the switch socket.
Black (which I grounded) Green (in picture) Red (in picture). Where does each go? If I want to ignore the switch light and just have functional fog lights, can I stick with the instructions in 6(b) and just merge green and red to 3 and 13? And leave black grounded?
