If they installed the softare on your computer, go back and ask for product keys.
A new hard drive?
Give me more info. I used to work at compusa so I know the rules.

yeah, kinda makes me see why CompUSA is closing. in addition, the store manager said that they'll replace my laptop the next time i bring it there. and the "next time" i brought it in...nope, not replace, but keep it and test it. what BS.

If you have proof of purchase of those products (credit card, etc) they will either give you a brand new product key or buy you the software if they don't carry it.

I suggest bitching at them that you want a whole new product and not have the tech just activating the software for you. (They may give you something right of a keygen from isohunt or w/e)(not every is legit these days)

Get ready to talk to the regional manager...get his/her contact and let him know wats going on and go to the store's tech manager...lol..dont try and scare them, get them in trouble otherwise tehy will treat u like shit. U gotta shot them in the leg to have them do wat u want.

But than again...read the paper work you signed in first before dropping ur messed up hard drive..

READ THE AGREEMENT U SIGNED, and see if it say something about backing up ur own stuff (etc) just read it u will understand it.
or scan it so I can read it.

he did, however ask me if i needed anything saved, which i thought he was just referring to documents and what nots. i didn't know he was also talking about software. i assumed that they would get it back to the way it was with those already activated.

Well if your old hard drive crashed and that is why you are replacing it, they may not have been able to save anything.
