pioneers are the best bang for the buck. plus the color customization and the visualization on the avic d3 is freekin great. if you gots a little more money, eclipses sound slightly better (higher preamp voltage), and in my opinion have a really nice navi layout (pioneer is a little too cluttered for my taste). but it probably isnt worth the extra money (around 400 more). alpine navis had GREAT visuals, but i dont think they make them anymore and they were CRAZY expensive...

Wait until may (depending where you live). By crazy expensive you are probably talking about Alpines $1800 or so dvd based navi add on to the already pricey touch screens. There is a new Blackbird that actually docks inside a new IVA W200 double din. Around the same price as the Eclipse AVN6610 when you purchase the units separately, but the cool thing is that the Blackbird remains portable. Just undock it and carry it with you. The Eclipse AVN series are the best I've played with so far. The only complaint is that the iPod interface functioned a bit slow.

i agree. we're waiting for prices to dip, but we're getting the avn 5510. excellent sound quality, and the navi layout is very logical, IMO. the pioneers are a great bargain though. the best feature i found with the old alpine systems was how the touchscreen actually gave a physical alert of being touched. when you touched a button on the screen, that part of the screen actually physically "clicked" like a button. but yeah, me and the wifey are big fans of the toyota/lexus/eclipse navi interfaces...
