Those are the only 2 engines the Yaris comes with no matter where in the world you are, so every Yaris has DFCO.

diesel? There is also a 1.0l isnt there?

My driving is about 50/50 (town/interstate) and I have never had mpg that low? I do drive with real gentle input to the throttle and keep my speed at approximately 65 mph on the big road. My average is 43 mpg.

Do you have a bunch of extra stuff (weight) in the car? Do you accelerate briskly from stops? Are you using cheap (no name) fuel? Has the car been properly serviced?

I thought all cars made in the last 5-10 years had that. Either way, are you really prepared to shut off power steering and braking just to save a few litres of petrol? Not to mention that "coasting" doesn't last forever and the car slows down... Unless you mean taking the car down a hill where no throttle is required - in which case it would be crazy to lose half the safety features of the car by turning it off.

Again, I ask that each of you be careful with the (dis)information that you spread.

The Yaris is drive-by-wire. As such, with the engine off and the key in the Ignition II position you still have power steering. The vehicle's brake system also has enough vacuum to support a minimum of 4 brake touches (uses) before it starts to deplete the power assist.

This means that performing a FAS (coasting in neutral with the engine off) in the Yaris is perfectly safe as long as you remember to re-engage the engine after a few friction brake uses in order to regenerate the vacuum.

While "coasting doesn't last forever" neither does any other form of movement, so I'm not sure what your point is.

nope, won't ever shut off my car while driving. rather have safety than save a few mpg.

Again, if you still have forward momentum, you still have power brakes, you still have power steering and you still have airbags, etc., then exactly what safety do you think you give up by turning the engine off and then putting the ignition switch back to the Ignition II position for a coasting segment?

yeah, i know that if it's on the "Ignition II" position, then everything but the engine should be on, but it's just me...but yeah, when does it apply that if a car is moved more than 50 ft and the engine is not on, then damage could occur to the cat?

Ever been in an event where you had to speed up to avoid an accident?

Preach that FAS crap on CleanMPG. No hard feelings, but seriously, there are some battles you hypermilers just won't win here. That is DEFINITELY one of them.

Nope. Not once in over 20 years of driving on 4 continents.

Such is the power of defensive and anticipatory driving.
