Hey guys and galls.. Something has come up and I won't be able to install the LED mirrors for the next week.
Hopefully we have someone else step in to complete the DIY.

OK - The fact that not one of the tabs matches is not an unmitigated disaster. Just cut 'em off.
Remove the inner door panel and take the mirrors off the doors by removing the three 10mm nuts holding them on. If you have power mirrors, use the existing wire to help you fish the new wires through. Pull the wire back toward the mirror all the way so the power mirror connector bumps tight: Tape your LED wires to this wire: Pull everything through: Unwrap the tape and you're in business: Cut the tabs off the inside of the Sakura mirror cover - they are just in the way. Get yourself some clear silicone window/door caulk: Carefully run a clear bead inside the mirror: Put the LED mirror cover in place: Wipe off any excess sealant and wrap with blue painter's tape until dry: |

I'll probably let this cure overnight and wire them up tomorrow. Black is ground, gray is the white running light and red is the amber blinker light.

Here we go:
I took my speakers out and ran the wires down through the door and fed it through the boot into the cabin On the passengers side I ran the wire through the firewall using the grommet for the rear window washer hose On the drivers side, I jacked up the car to get access to where the hood latch runs through In ran just the power wire for the blinker through (red) into the engine compartment.. The ground (black) was grounded inside the cabin. I crimped a ring terminal on the ground wires To access the blinker circuits, I popped the top of the bumper off and removed both headlights. There is a bundle of wires running under each from inside the fender. The driver's side power wire was hooked to the smaller green striped wire here Using quick splice connectors, like so and the passenger's side goes to the green wire here Like so I decided not to use the white LEDs (gray wire) as I don't know if its legal to have white running lights on your mirrors here. I may hook them up so I can switch them on/off at will. Here's a video clip of the blinker in operation: click to watch Movie clip - click to watch Last edited by Violin; 07-16-2007 at 08:29 PM. |

Looks great, I thought it was a bit dim, but it looks normal in the nighttime video.

Yeah - where you only see the LEDs during the day, the whole reflector area lights up at night.

Since you can't see it from the side, I think I'm gonna switch the two, so the turn signal is in white...
