This is something all tracked ncp91's should have.
Thank you for designing this.

Here is the picture of the top brackets

Here is the lower ones

about the only way you could make them more substantial is to weld on triangle gussets to the top bracket. The only problem with that is then you could no longer install the factory seatbelts as well... If you are interested in that, I can do yours like that Tamago. However, remember that the bracket would be weakest bending past 90, but the bracket is also angled downward, so the forces acting on it would essentially have to twist the bend, if that makes any sense.

i already have a harness bar, i'm playin devil's advocate right now. ;). i'm just curious why you dont weld it solid (do the yarii vary THAT much at the B pillars? Sparco bars are welded solid and don't seem to have fitment issues)

what size bolt are you using to fasten that bracket (upper) and what did you put inside the actual bar tube to thread the bolt into?

don't get me wrong, i'm just asking the questions no one else is asking.. more worried about colors and pads

the fastening bolt is a 12mm bolt fine thread grade 8, as that is standard for the seatbelts, it comes with a spacer to facilitate the ability to have the seat belts and harness bar installed together. It is grade 8. the tube end is a extra thick washer .100" thick with a 1/2-20 grade 8 nut welded on the back side, and its all held together by a grade 8 1/2-20 bolt.

This style of tube end is plenty strong, we use it as a engine bay cross brace for late model cars all the time.

As for the difference in B-pillar dimensions, I am unsure, because I haven't had the opportunity to measure a liftback, I imagine they are close in measurement, but it has about 1.5" of difference built in in the unlikely event they are different.

good thinking. this means your bar will almost certainly fit the scion xA xB, honda FIT, basically all smaller cars :)

get some donor cars and get these things OUT there!

You read my mind ;) , the only thing that might have to be changed is the little spacer that goes on the seat belt bolt to fit.

Just from a safety point of view I hope you're going to test the strength of the setup. For a 100mph car crash its been estimated that a driver experiences anything between 30-100Gs deceleration forces, forces which are concentrated on the attachment points of the harness bars.

For such a safety device it should first and foremost do what its supposed to do. Aesthetics are nice to have, but secondary.

100mph car crash and without a HANS device, the driver will lose his head.. harness bar won't even be an issue at that point..

thank god it takes a good 2 and a half minutes to get to 100mph in a yaris :D

That's quite conjectural, as an F1 driver (David Purley) back in '77 survived a 180g impact, this is way before HANS were commonplace, or even invented:

He survived an estimated 179.8 G's in 1977 when he decelerated from 173 km/h (108 mph) to 0 in a distance of 66 cm (26 inches)
