Of course people will look at you differently with tattoos. I have to guess though the point of spending that much money and putting it in a place so visible was because you wanted the attention. Not a bad thing, but yea, people will always look.

Heck, depending on how you dress people will look anyways. You should see the stares I get when I wear a t-shirt with Rush Limbaugh's face plastered all over it. =) Fun times.

Tats are pretty cool things, and make you stand out, and people are interested in things and people that look differently.

but i have also been requested at work to not show people one of them because someone claimed to be offended by the butt showing.. i kept it covered with a sweater, but a lot of people heard i got a tattoo & i was excited, so i showed a bunch of people.. now when i get a new piece or new session, i only tell a few people cuz idk who was offended... but im ok with it...

ok, that is just awesome!

Personally, I do not have any tattoos and have no plans for ever getting one.

I have nothing against them on other people however.

The beauty of any given tattoo, like all other artwork, is in the eye of the beholder
Some are beautiful while with some others, you have to question why someone would permanantly put something like that on their body.

Having said that, I have to admit that I do tend to look at them on other people.
I don't stare in a rude fashion by any stretch but, I have to assume that if someone tattoos their body, they must want people to see it.

Well, if you present something to the public put it on display it is no longer private. It's not like someone is undressing you to see a tattoo.

Example: If someone was to shave their head, It would be unreasonable to think that people would not notice.

It would seem to me that if one gets a tattoo, they should be proud of it and if they do not want the public to see it, perhaps the tattoo should have been given more thought to begin with

Luckily there's been a growing trend to ignore visible tattoos, especially in office environments. At least in the offices I've worked in I've seen many openly visible tattoos with no repercussions.

I've been meaning to get a tattoo for awhile now. Would like to get a 1/4 sleeve of an octopus or some other cephalopod.

I believe there are significant differences between someone who tatoos (or would tatoo) his/her body and someone who would never consider such a thing. Visible tatoos draw attention... and opinions. If you're advertising, then expect some response... good and bad. If you can accept that without developing a defensive (bad) attitide, then people will accept you and your tatoos more easily. Unfortunately, you may not have the opportunity to show those people that you're really a decent individual and not some degenerate.

I sure hope no one on here has the terrible 90's "barbwire" wrap around their biceps lol.

I love artwork and people do catch me looking alot because I can appreciate what goes into it. I've been around tattoos since I was a little child so it's nothing out of the ordinary to me, I've basically seen it all. Basic arm tattoos to eyelid tattoos, you name it.

and that is why they are hidden unless i specifically wear a tank shirt. They are quite hidden unless i specifically try to show them. and yes you would have to undress me to see them.

I know this is a teeny bit off-topic, but I love looking at these people running around in 40-degree weather in shorts. When I look down, I know why they are wearing them. Tattoos. I rarely see people wearing shorts when it isn't "shorts" weather without seeing tattoos they are trying to show for as long in the season as possible.

Okay! Short rule! I suppose if I had them on my legs I would do the same thing. I have them only on my forearms, so I wear black tees all year round. I actually do, but in winter I put on hoodies, so I am covered up. I could cut off the sleeves of the hoodies I guess.
