Am I missing dust covers/boots?
Hey all, my 2009 2nd gen Yaris has been making a lot of noise from the rear discs lately. Checked it out yesterday and noticed the pads we're worn out significantly. But they were worn out unevenly. I was wondering if it was a stuck pin or warped disc when I noticed that the pins we're clearly visible. Exposed to dirt and stuff. Checked the other side and it was the same story. Shouldn't there be some kind of dust cover/boot over them?

I would say yes. There's usually rubber boots covering the slider pins on the calipers. Odd your brakes have none.

Damn. Where can I get them? Are they sold separately or as a rebuild kit? I really can't find much info on these rear disc brake setup on the Yaris.

The rear disks arent found on most yaris. The tsport and 2012+ SE models only as far as I know. I'm not sure if the boots are sold separately but if you have been driving a while without them, I'd be willing to bet you need new brackets and slider pins anyway. Slider pins are probably seized pretty good judging by the irregular pad wear.

Nothing missing there, they will become visible on ATE calipers on that side when the pads and discs gets thinner.
But it looks like you are missing some lubrication both on the sliders and the pads were they shall move on the bracket. Use ATE plastilube or a similar product, never copper grease it will destroy the rubber parts. There is a spilt drawing here of the caliper. http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/...t-cover#47547C It could also be these that is worn bacause of missing lubrication, then the calipers can tilt a little and then you can get that kind of uneven wear. https://www.ebay.de/itm/FEBEST-Bello...gAAOSwBXpapqbe And yes the rear disc brakes on the yaris is a PIA that requires a lot of maintence especially with the climate in denmark. I´m glad only one of my two yaris has rear disc brakes

Now my other question is there are absolutely no products like ATE plastilube or silicone/rubber grease where I live. All I can find are Lithium Grease and Lithium Calcium Grease (made by Total). Is it okay if I use them? What are my alternatives (I have read about people using Vaseline :D )
