Do you think it'll be a challenge to get the 02 sensor bung in the right place so as not to trigger the check engine light? If you could see there they put it on the Kansai, that might be a big help unless there aren't any on it to begin with.

The real challenge is that the o2 sensor is far enough away to get an accurate reading but not to far away that the results are delayed.

The CEL isn't really an issue with the front o2 as that is getting readings its the rear o2 that triggers the cat efficiency light.

^ You don't have much choice - it need to be as soon after the final collector as possible. Hit and miss on whether it throws CEL's or not, it's not possible to predict with any certainty.

Usually just spacing the 2nd O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream just enough fools the ecu good enough...mine is currently spaced out now since toyota doesnt like anything other then a stock cat. And im running a 100cell race cat

Just got back from the dyno shop...

The results of the 3 runs was:

98.87HP
99.18FT/LB

99.90HP
101.00FT/LB

99.93HP
01.22FT/LB

Mods:

Weapon R Short Ram Intake with BLOX Velocity Stack Air Filter
Weapon R 4-2-1 Header
Micro Image MagnaFlow Center Exit Exhaust

So the engine essentially made 100HP with those mods.
Here's the chart:

Does anyone have a dyno run of a completely stock Yaris for comparison?

I'm uploading the video to You Tube right now and will post the link as soon as it's done.

The dyno runs were done at this shop:

HK Motorsports
15020 Oxnard Street Unit A
Van Nuys, CA 91411
818-908-9650

http://www.hkmotorsportsdynoshop.com/

Harry, the owner is a good guy.

I believe that's about 10whp above stock... Not too shabby.

Good results! I'm sure someone will chime in with stock dyno run, but unlikely we have one from a 2012 like yours. Your car has a different ECU than the 07-11 cars so it may net different results, certainly seems to like the few bolt-ons you've got so far!

Hey Jeff...

Your MI exhaust sounds really cool!

Damn...our cars really like exhaust then...i have less intake and more exhaust and have 7-8more whp.

I wonder how much a long header could really produce

For comparison, what intake and exhaust are you running? The bottleneck on mine is the stock mid tube.

If you plan to stay NA, start with the header...the stock "collector"(not sure if correct term) where the 4 pipes of the header joins together is very very small and that restricts quite abit of power

Ah, there's where you got those extra horses.

Since I have a header and an axleback, that bigest gain is found in the midpipe.

Yes, that's where I started, too.

those numbers are interesting. I was hoping for around 105 or so. I am actually going to be going 2" from the resonator back with mine. there is a short section that is actually oval shaped that seems really restrictive.

I am really looking forward to seeing what your intake manifold does for you. any ETA on when that is going to be finished?

I was hoping for 95 horsepower.
After, all I've only done just a few simple peripheral mods.

The CNC guys were concurrently working on multiple machining deadlines so mine had been getting pushed back. The other projects are finished now so they're working on mine. Just talked with them this morning and they're modelling the face plate design to accept the stock intake manifold gasket. I want this to be something that everything fits properly so I can simply bolt it on and run it.

I showed the manifold to Harry, the guy who runs the dyno shop, and he told me that while the manifold should show some power gains above 4,000 it will be at the sacrifice of power down in the 2,000 to 3,000 rpm range. He said it was because the larger volume of the runners will slow down the velocity of the air at low rpms. The question is how much bottom end will be lost... I'll find that out on the next dynos.

it would be nice if you had a data file of the dyno and you could literally see the delta (positive or negative) in maybe 100 rpm steps. I know that it may be too late for that. maybe you could overlay the two dyno runs if your dyno guy keeps the files (I assume he would)

I like the progress you are making. it may be advantageous for you to go to a muffler shop and get them to replace that run of 1.75" pipe with 2"...obviously not until you get the intake manifold experiment done.

when you get the manifold done, we definitely need some pics of the final product also.

maybe you could overlay the two dyno runs if your dyno guy keeps the files (I assume he would)

I like the progress you are making. it may be advantageous for you to go to a muffler shop and get them to replace that run of 1.75" pipe with 2"...obviously not until you get the intake manifold experiment done.

when you get the manifold done, we definitely need some pics of the final product also.
This is where I'm still at...

With the short ram completed and the baseline dyno done, everything is now waiting on the CNC guys to punch out the head flange and throttle body adapter. Then I go the welder to get the flange put on. Then I get the whole thing sandblasted.
