Funny you say that...but without Wade the Heat probably would have won only 15 games like last year...the Cavs without James would have still been in the playoffs in a lower seed. MVP stands for most valuable player not most popular player. Thats why the MVP discussion always comes down to Kobe and James cause they get so much air time on ESPN. Either way I hope the Cavs whoop the Hawks ass...cause I hate them....And please shut up Josh Smith he is the biggest piece of DUNG.

I got news for you... if Lebron James wasn't on the Cavs, they'd be sitting @ home right now. They wouldn't have made the playoffs.

Cavs still have Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Delonte West, Ben Wallace, Wally Szczerbiak, Mo Williams, and Delonte West.

It would be silly to think that they wouldn't make the playoffs without James.

I'm not a Heat fan, and I do think Lebron James is a very very good player, but as was stated earlier, the MVP award is supposed to be for the most valuable player for a team, not a great player on an already very very good team. Obviously Wade is the most valuable player for a team out there, no way the Heat would have won 43 games without him. Heck, they wouldn't have won 10 games without him.

What determines value... the player that barely gets your team into the playoffs or the player that puts your team in a position to have the best record in the NBA?

Jordan and Kobe both answered that question. There teams would have easily made the playoffs without them, but they are still both the best players in the world at their time. James will get there too someday :D

Well, I'd say that a most valuable player for a team would be the one that makes the difference between a winning season and abject failure of a season, someone who really adds something to a team. Someone very VALUABLE to the team. A key player, without which the team wouldn't be what it was. I wouldn't say an MVP is someone who adds polish to an already very solid team.

For example:
Allen Iverson on the 2000-2001 76ers
Kevin Garnett on the 2003-2004 Timerwolves

Now, if the award was just for NBA's best all around player for the season, I'd certain put Lebron James in the running. Probably, at least off the top of my head, give him the award outright for this season. But thats not really what the award is.

Dwayne Wade should have been the MVP. Kobe and Lebron put up the numbers but had real basketball teams helping them do it. They both tie for second behind Dwayne Wade in the MVP category.... But back to the real world which runs on money, the NBA isn't going to make any money by giving it to neither Lebron nor Kobe so that instantly knocks Wade out of the running. And since Lebron is the overhype machine it obviously would go to him over Kobe.

I would disagree with your first and second point, really.

James probably is the best, if not one of the best, players now. I'd say overall, hes a better player than Kobe. Sure, Kobe has played on better teams, but as an overall player, I'd say James is better.

A lot of time at that...he's only 24....But for some reason I don't think he'll stay with the Cavs once he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2010.
