Year old news but even though Honda undercuts the Prius, there's really no comparison. The Insight isn't in the same league.
The Insight has a Honda Fit interior and trails FE significantly. The Prius is upscale and a much more polished design. It's worth more than the $2K premium asked. |

I actually test drove an Insight a few months ago. They. Are. TINY. They're about the size of the Yaris, actually. For that price you'd be better off with a Yaris. The switch-over between electric and internal combustion motors was clunky. The ride was noisy. The handling was awkward. It was just all-around strangeness. Test drove an (old) prius shortly after, and it's a completely different class of car. The Prius is at least mid-size, the ride is smoother and quieter, and the ergonomics made a lot of sense.
$2000 isn't much to save. In the monthly payment game it's about $40. Mileage quickly makes up for that. Ultimately, though, both cars are just gimmicks. |

I love our Prius. 76k miles and not one problem. We will probably trade into the new gen next year.
