Anyone here have experience with older Jeeps?

I have an 86 Comanche sitting in my back yard. My grandfather and I bought the truck when I was 8 and ran the wheels off of it. He passed away in 06 and the truck hasn't ran since. I think I'm going to try and fix it come tax time. It has the 2.8 V6, which I've heard is a huge hunk of $#!+. My question is, are there any almost straight forward engine swaps that I can get my hands on at a junkyard fairly easily? I don't really want to go to crazy throwing something in there because the truck will be used practically ie; scrapyards and trash runs. I'm just trying to find something reliable with a bit more power. Any and all help is appreciated.
